Using a vector and a background is an entirely acceptable way of making some cover art. That's exactly what I did on my most upvoted story, Every Little Bit. You should make a point to ask permission and thank the artists who provide the vector and the background that you use, though. The same thing applies for using fan art as a cover—asking permission to use a piece of art is always preferable, and when you do use a piece of art for your cover always provide a link back to the artist in the story itself. You can see an example of what I mean in the first chapter of any of my stories. Be sure that the cover art actually helps tell the reader what they are investing their time in, and that it isn't a "bait and switch." People hate that. I hope this helped!

1672397 Hi and thanks for such a warm welcome into this site, I know from past experience some sites can be semi-hostile to knewer members but honestly it seems pretty cool here.

I do have one question though, what should I do over the image thingy for stories? I know the rules and guidelines said roughly what is and isn't allowed but nothing has been said over whether your allowed to cut/paste ponies from the show into different backgrounds and stuff like that to make the thumbnail images or whether your not allowed to do that.

Any clarity would be sincerely appreciated and thanks again for such a warm welcome into this community.
