It is the year 2020 in the year of Her Royal Highness Princess Celestia's reign and Ponyville is crumbling into a new dark age. Disease and poverty run rampant in a world scourged by desolation, pollution and radiation. The human Maxwell arrives in the middle of it all in his search of the object that seems to be the source of this dystopia, but his inexperience at being a pony is only one hindrance. To understand how things could have gone so wrong, we also have to travel back in time seven years, where things start with a little filly wishing upon a shooting star.

I regret to announce that I probably won’t be able to continue this story. From the start, I only had a few scattered ideas and the whole plan was to engage the reader into suggesting how to continue. My failure at getting featured on EqD, my lack of skills and my general involuntary anonymity has kept me from this goal however. Without further suggestion, chapter 3 will be good for a few more jokes, but not enough to satisfy a full chapter. Furthermore, I haven’t been entirely truthful. This story has been a crossover with my own universe in a shameless attempt to entice more readers to read my own stories.

Lars Leland was the head of security on a spaceship far, far away from Earth. His job was supposed to have been easy, but things quickly turned very, very wrong. He must now deal with the growing number of murders and his own sanity as visions of talking equines mar his daily life.

This is a two-chapter introduction for a fanfic I'm writing

It’s been a few years since the wielders of the Elements of Harmony were last together. Their reunion, however, is cut short by the death of Celestia. They must now recover the stolen elements, but it's a race against time. When doing crossovers, some people take the characters or setting and some the story line. How is one better than the other? I actually make an effort to make a separate storyline fit into the universe of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, but just because I follow the storyline somewhat closely, I’m not legible for a feature on EqD. I’m being accused of writing a copy & pasta crossover. Quite frankly, this is hogwash. Some of the dialogue has been lifted, but I only follow the storyline insofar as possible without either straining the universe of ponies or the plot of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Equestrian Crisis is NOT a simple character replacement story. Effort has been put into to making this story interesting even for people familiar with Oblivion. The result is probably my best fanfiction project yet. I’m dissatisfied with the Equestria Daily’s decision, but arguing it would be futile. They’ve already read my story and come to their own conclusions. If you disagree, submit this story to EqD, show them that you think this is worth their feature.

A big round of applause to my proof reader, without whom this work would no doubt be 20% shoddier. Thank you, Zeph B)

So, here is my entry to the February write-off (Oh god no, does this mean there will be more! All the time I could've spent playing or watching TV instead of actually writing for once). As always, the most time-consuming part of the project is making "A fire breaks out in the Everfree forest" into a long story. But eh, and as long as it's fiction and it's a subject I'm interested in, the word count does not matter all that much to me. "between 3k and 10k words"? No problem!

Also, can you find all the references? There's sure to be a lot :3

Only later did I realise the start of this story might sound like option number 2 (Mysterious creatures are attacking Ponyville). Sorry if you expected that, but the title should give that away.
