I'm SUPER glad you enjoyed the chapter! Having a 'pinkamena' version of Backlash has been something that I've wanted to do, and poured myself completely into while writing this chapter. It took quite a bit of tweaking to get it to sound right, but I made sure to leave clues to what was really going on throughout it.

The whole Solemn scene was a play on a fallout 2 special encounter Unwashed Villagers fighting a spammer. It was mostly spawned from a number of times Somber (author of Project Horizons) appeared on the IRC with the same complaints as in the chapter.

Yes, to be honest, when I sat down and wrote the Preface, and chapter one and two, I had little idea of where I was going with the story. I believe that I corrected that fairly quickly, but please let me know if that is still the case! I'm glad you enjoy at least part of it so far!

I am glad that you felt connected to Brass. He was a great character, and as I said, it took a lot of effort to hit the publish button when it came down to it. Thank you for your comment, as it is exactly the thing that makes me glad I actually decided to post my writing.

That was a heart-wrenching plot twist there, Gamma Deekay. It was painful end to this chapter, but it was well written. I had a confused feeling and a hunch in the back of my mind after 42's first shot "didn't hit anything." As I was reading, I completely missed all of the hints you were dropping about Brass being dead though. That one with the author should have been a dead giveaway, but I guess I'm special like that sometimes. The one with the enclave soldier was an obvious one too... I DIDN'T REALIZE I WAS THIS BAD AT PICKING UP HINTS!!!

Seriously though, this gives me new insight as to why I don't have much of a dating life.

Damn you Gamma... damn you..... When 42 shot Brass I was confused at first. I thought that maybe 42 missed completely or that the shot to Backlash's leg was a delayed reaction. But when the gears in his mind collapsed, I had a bad feeling. But then Brass was still with him I got confused, but then when I realized it was a hallucination, I was devastated. And that was on top of thinking that Pallet Jack was killed too.
