Well, I definitely didn't foretell that particular defeat. I was actually kinda more in the 'maybe someone else has to beat her' camp.
Was a little surprised whatsherface was truthful about it not exploding 'yet'.
Also, bacon!
(Admittedly, I don't remember this chapter in a great deal of detail. Listened to about half of it while playing Awesomenauts, and another half while washing dishes. )
You captured the brutality of fallout amazingly! People might get mad at the ending, but it shows the true colors of the wasteland. Hope I get a chance to read more of your incredible stories.
So I think this ending could have been very interesting if instead of having the final battle showdown battle, you tried a different approach towards the ending. I know that Backlash absolutely hates 42 with the entirety of his soul for everything that she did to him and make him suffer. An interesting way the ending could have gone would have been if Backlash decided to apologize to 42, for all the horrible things that she had to experience from the moment she was created. That backlash, through the power of friendship/forgiveness or whatever, and gives 42 what she wanted the entire time; to be treated like a pony, instead of a monster, sex slave, or test subject; as she was in the pre-war.

First of all, I'd like to say thank you for reading!

For a while when I first started the story, I had entertained the thought that she could be reformed. The more I thought about it, the less it made sense that Backlash would ignore everything she would do. From the point she killed Brass, Backlash knew that she was way past saving. For me to have it end with friendship saving the day seems a bit like a cop-out for Backlash to just forgive her. But you know what I will do? I'm going to write this ending for you. I've already written an alternate ending where 42 won, so this wouldn't be a bad idea for another one!
Making another guess on 42's sick game: The guards are prisoners made to stand there, and 42's getting Blackjack too blinded by rage to look close enough to notice.
...No again. I'm scaring myself.

And there's a yellow line too. I have a feeling it's more than just coincidence I thought of this song.
New guess: 42 found a Metal Gear equivalent.
Nope. This is more fun anyway.
Wasn't she filled with wooden shrapnel from one of her own bombs blowing up the dunking booth? She just ignored it then.
Ah, the Killing Joke. Been waiting for this. Heh, did she want to be just like Pinkie Pie? I recognise that corpse.
Some of the chapters leading up to this were a bit 'meh', but this was a great finale.
Was going to wait until after I read the epilogue, but what the hell. Mini-response to the story as a whole:
Biggest complaints are 42 being an omnipotent, invincible force comparable to natural disasters. Like an earthquake that laughs at you once you lose your home. Interesting idea at first, and I can understand her being powerful enough to destroy armies by herself to a certain degree (video game heroes do it all the time) but it was just dragged on every time they encountered her. "Okay, she's a bitch that won't die. Get on with it."
Other complaint is Backlash's guilt. Again, not entirely bad. It just reached a point where I was like "This again?"
That's all I got.
good job I love it *claping*
