1: My Poetic Journey Begins

This is my first rhyming poetry fan fic. I hope you like it.

My Poetic Journey Begins

As I get my pens, parchment, and more in my saddle bags
Hoping this trip won't be a drag
But I must carry on, and prepare for the mission
Being a freelance poet is not an easy position

As a unicorn exploring all of Equestria
I write about the princesses Luna and Celestia
And of course Princess Twilight Sparkle and the Elements of Harmony
Along with Spike, Starlight Glimmer, and more I go to see

My inspiration comes from the one and only Zecora
Rhymes like a enchanting story book from a fairy tale Pandora
I don't rhyme while I talk, but I will write a rhyme
That will be my way to tell the happenings in my time

I finished packing, and exited my home
Originally from Manehattan, but Ponyville is where I roam
Made a lot of friends, ponies, dragons, and more
Learning more cultures for my rhyming corArabia

I might see Starswirl and the Pillars
If I go past the Term, the true ice cold killer
Yakyakastan, Griffonstone, Trottingham, and more
Might see Pinkie at SugarCube Corner store

I also have to stop at Sweet Apple Acres
Sugar Belle is also one of the best bakers
Her and Pinkie Pie, along with Applejack, share recipes
And their food is like a treasure from the seapony seas

Fluttershy is also a good friend and cook
Plus, I have to stop and see Twilight about a few books
Even a couple of comics from Spike
A few I'll read again that I'll like

Before I leave, who else would I like to see
Ah yes, Starlight and the Great and Powerful Trixie
And go to music sessions with Vinyl and Octavia
Before they go on tour in Saddle Arabia

Then help Rainbow Dash and the Wonderbolts
To be the best, whether you're a filly or colt
Mare or stallion, just be yourself and be true
There's a bright light that will shine within you

I better get going to the train station
If I need to go to multiple nations
And I need to stop by Lyra and Bon-Bon's store
For some more snacks for my hunger core

I'm glad I have the message book to contact Sunset
From the other world, which I haven't been to yet
Starlight told me all about the other side
When I have time, I'll go along for the ride

So many places, so many choices
Also making new friends and hearing new voices
Though one being that would get me lost
Would be Discord, the Element of Chaos

Can't forget about Shining Armor and Princess Cadence
Along with Flurry Heart, Sunburst, and all the Crystal Empire residents
I'd love to go there again
Plus, I love the Crystal trends

Sometimes I feel nostalgic
Manehattan is my home, where I got my poetic logic
Though in Ponyville, it's quiet and peaceful
It has its own kind of beautiful wonderful

If Mama can see how well I turned out
She'd love to meet my friends, and how great my life is about
I'm not a rapper, but I write like one
And the hobby is fun, in both the night and the sun

I sigh at the memories from back then
I can remember the good and bad way back when
Back home was a struggle in the ghetto
But I'm here with a smooth glow and flow

I finally got to the front door
Look back at my home once more
Then I closed the door, and clicked the lock
And head to the train station through the street blocks

I said hi to every pony and creature
As I admire each of their features
Without any prejudice within me
Unfortunately, there will be more of that begins

As I wait for the train to come
I'm kind of nervous, but I'm ready, and then some
I thought of words in my notes already
As it helps me to be calm and steady

Here it comes, as it ceases to a stop
I get on, and find my seat for my flank to drop
I close my eyes to relax
And rest my mind, talking to Princess Luna with dream facts

But which city or country do I stop at
There are so many on this very track
I guess I'll see when I get there
It might be Sire's Hollow to see Fire Light and Stellar Flare

Or Las Pegasus where Flim and Flam
Are still using schemes for their greedy scams
Might be Prance, Apploosa, or Dodge Junction
Where Cherry Jubilee still has the cherry function

Well, I'll know when I get there
It's better than seeing Limestone Pie's glare
It'll be a long time from home
But there will be stories in rhyme that will be told and known

Luckily, I can send letters through Spike and more
Trips will be from the land, the sea, and the air to soar
Now it's time for my adventure to start
And to write my rhymes from my mind and heart

This trip will have its ups and downs
It'll make me have smiles, and have some frowns
But I must have hope and faith
This trip will have a up or down rate

There will be times that feelings will be hurt
Where forgiveness may or may not be a worth
As I'm finishing my first page
Thanks to the talk from the night princess sage

She told me to be myself, and more
You have a gold soul within your core
And with that, my rhyme comes to an end
As my poetic journey begins

There will be happiness and sadness
Along with loneliness and being helpless
But one thing I will do
Is to do the best that I can, that's true

I might find new friends, and maybe love
One of the two might come true, stars above
Now ends the very first rhyming poetry page

Wait, it say that he/she got his/her inspiration from zecora, and then says he/ got his/her poetic logic from manehattan, so which one is it?

It's pretty much both. He gets inspired by Zecora later on, and then works on writing poetry for bits.

Pretty good! There were some hiccups and inconsistencies here and there, but all in all, the chapter flowed really nicely and made sense. Just watch out for the occasional typos or editing leftovers, such as corArabia or Yakyakastan. Also, it's best to avoid putting an author's note at the beginning of the opening chapter, since it bogs it down needlessly. You want people to immediately dive into the story so that you can hook them.
