from a long journey through space, a ship comes soaring in through the darkness, and from that ship a pod, and from that…a mechanical dog. Set loose on a lone planet to discover what this new world has to offer
“Thanks.” As Kirburi took his plate he watched as Andrew removed his mask, and revealed his heavily scared mouth and throat, with cybernetic instalments lining the jaw.
“So how much longer do you have to wait till your full facial restoration?”
“My appointment was scheduled to be in two months, but there were some corporate shenanigans or something. So I’m not sure anymore.” Andrew replied, his voice heavily ragged and mumbled without his mask aiding in his speech.
What happened to him?! Was this before the expedition to Equestria/Equis?
Besides that, the Pony Guards captured one of our flying drones?! Oh great!!!!!
10915171 Probably due to how a majority of them are written as a shitty anime harem where the protags are simps. Also seeing how you're a more experienced writer than I am can you give my story a read to see if it's any good?
10916119 makes sense. a lot of Anthro fics I do read always seem to have the main dude just be a playboy, f**k toy, or just a major simp. and thanks for the complement about my writing even though I think I'm sub-par. and I'd like to take a look at your fic.
and as to the picture thing: 1st: you find a picture that you want to use, then you right-click on it. there it will show "Copy Image" and "Copy Image Address". I don't think it matters on which you pick. 2nd: once you got the picture you want, you then go the "Insert Image" icon on the tool bar and paste the picture in where it says "Image URL - SFW Images Only".
10916451 it should up by tomorrow or Thursday. but how do you think things are going to go, with the guard and Kiburi & Andrew strolling around in the Everfree.
10916516 Things are getting interesting with them I wonder what is planned for when the guards meet them will they try to force them to go see the princess or possibly the drone will send out a distress signal and the robot wolves will come for it I'm not sure but I know the next chapter will be great 😁
10917830 so far I like it, there is nothing revolutionary about it, but it is good storytelling.
I suspect that the guards will investigate this to the castle and meet the humans there kicking in a first contact situation. ( probably handled by twilight in all panicky glory. )
10915171 Oh, hay! You replied! ...in a completely different chapter. Meaning that FimFiction didn't bother to notify me about it.
While I am not the largest fan of MLP Antro (we have Equestria Girls for that), the actual issue here is that this is a First Contact fic. Making it Anthro basically sand blasts away all the interesting small details I want to hear about. "How are they tool users? The Unicorns I understand but... *IS THAT ONE HOLDING A HAMMER IN HIS HOOF?!?"* And then we have the non-ponies. Spike and most other Dragons are already Anthro, and making everypony Anthro takes that away from them. And in between we have Gryphons, quadrupeds with dexterous talons. Sure, we still have the background stuff to work with, such as domestic dogs, bunnies and apple trees to confound the humans, but the individual Tribes and Species all blend together.
Again, nothing wrong with Anthro in Slice of Life, Romance and the like, but in stories like "Project New World" or "A Wolf in Cybernetic Armor", the bigger the difference between the Ponies and the Humans, the better.
10988199 The decision to go full anthropomorphic could just be aesthetic reasons. Nothing wrong with that besides lost opportunity to explore other avenues. Or perhaps there's other things the author wants to concentrate on in the story instead of morphological differences being the driving factor for the plot, and making it anthro helps to direct the attention to a different kind of story.
I wouldn't know why this was chosen. I'm not the author.
I sometimes read anthro because it's the most natural way to grasp human-pony interaction in my head depending on the context of the story (...unless it's isekai into pony body. Do anything at this point). It gives the exotic appeal without veering too far off my norms. I suspect it's similar for those who write these kinds of stories. Simplify the story to make it easier to grasp, thus write. Too much exotic can get someone into something I like to call...the Analysis Paralysis. When there's so much to consider and think about, either by fear to get it right or the complex nature of a project, that nothing actually gets done because it gets stuck in planning...
Or maybe anthro makes it possible to write any form of romance without it being called zoophilia.
Again, nothing wrong with Anthro in Slice of Life, Romance and the like
I think the issue for me is that I have been submerged into the Fandom for the last ten years. I get cognitive dissonance when I read MLP Anthro at this point. And it usually isn't a deal breaker for me even then then, it just requires more mental effort to suspend my disbelief. However, with First Contact stories, not HiE in general, specifically FC, a key plot point I am looking for is the Quadruped Tool User meets Biped Tool User moment. And note that I haven't used "human" in this conversation. An Anthro meets Ponies story like a Star Fox or Ratchet and Clank crossover looses its culture shock moment if both parties are on their hind legs and fuzzy. The show already has Diamond Dogs, G4 movie introduced Parrots, and I could have sworn that the town Capper was in had amphibians. If we ignore Peppy Hare, the Star Fox crew could ALREADY be from Equus, no Antho Ponies needed. Make the Ponies Anthro and they might as well already be in the Lylat System.
10996982 totally understandable. for me I'm also iffy when it comes to Anthro fics, mostly in my case though, whenever I read an anthro story for some reason it devolves into the Mane 6 herding the main human character, or it gets into some kind of soup drama which i find boring.
A ground party starting in Ponyville? Given existing knowledge of the area, wouldn't taking an airship to the old castle to use as a forward base make more sense? I mean sure, the humans are already there, so from a narrative perspective it doesn't work, but I want to know what the in-universe reason is.

Also how do I post pictures?
Nice hope to see the next chapter soon

answer to question: Adam was scared before this fic took place, as to what happened, i might drop it in conversation in the next chapter.

It's copy image address
That makes sense while entering a forest where sticks stick together to form wolves.

true. btw how do you think this story is going so far? and how do you think things will play out?
