She worked from home most of the time anyway, being forced to do so seemed like not that big of a deal. When the chance to help end the outbreak was presented, she went for it, and got back more than a footnote in history in return.

I can’t fault Eri here, she did the right thing. Hopefully Lemon Hearts will make new friends and help find out just what is happening here because these ponies need to be out in the open where they can be free. Because unfortunately they are going to be getting sick of being cooped up.
Good thing Eri was being caution instead of curious about the whole new world out there. We need to avoid any potential Conversion Bureau scenario.
The main issue with confirming her "is a copy" status is origination tracing. We've already seen a small subsection of the multiverse branch we're on, but there's no way to confirm a tetrilaterally transferred consciousness without knowing the mode of transfer and origination parameters and associated by-artifacts (if any). Essentially, we still don't know how Ponid does what it does or why the result is apparently importing equestrian people's. Without that, any old world could be "it" and nobody would be any the wiser. At that point you'd just be seeking a resolution in confirmation bias.
Patient relationships are weird. She's probably unconsciously ignoring any odd paring she's seen from stress, but it's not unreasonable to associate Sunburst as a mentor and indirect father.
Sometimes you need to be broken so you can reform into a new adapted entity...
