The Princesses find themselves at war with their neighouring countries. Celestia seeks help from the only human on Equs, so her kingdom wont crumble under the influences of her foes. At first quite silly, but quickly turns into a more serious plot.

Hate to be a bother, but most belt fed machine guns fire from the open bolt position. The few that I know of that don’t fire open bolt include the M2 .50 cal, and most old browning designs. Modern designs fire open bolt for aided air cooling, reliability with reduced number of parts, and ease of manufacturing.
Other than that,Fucking rockin story, I’m in love with it.
As much as I love this chapter did those until dawn fucks intercept a spell that is link to two ponies only?

Thanks mate, glad you enjoy it! Honestly I cant wait to write the next chapter ;)
And yea, my gun knowledge is limited. I just imagined Joseph bulding a similar gun like the Maschienengewehr 42, albeit a way shittier version since he's just one dude. no idea if it fires open or closed bolt. Its just pretty badass for its age imo.

MG42 is a very interesting weapon platform, It’s open bolt roller locked. Hope he grabbed a few extra barrels because those things melted them (a design element that was include allowed the removal of a burnt out barrel using a spent casing so the operator wouldn’t need special equipment). That being said, I assumed he (and you as the author) would focus on 1930-1950 era German engineering. Back then they knew how to make them cheap and make them work. Now it’s just Kraut space magic and dreams. And don’t talk him down too much, there are resistance fighters in Khyber Pass who make these things and they are pretty damn good....ish.
Anyway, if you want to include a pretty interesting rifle that I think would fit the “make it at home, but make it work” mentality check out the AK107 in 5.45x39 and the round 7n6. That’s Russian space magic, but built by drunk people for drunk people.

good recovery there!
Make it a chain gun, like the M240, and you'll get a design that can eject mis- or un-fired rounds. I know there's a prototype 35mm chaingun from the 80s that fired over 100,000 rounds with no jams.
Then again, Hitler's Buzzsaw ain't bad unto itself. I personally would've chosen a rotary gun, a la the M134 minigun.
