I feel like I answer this in a later chapter, but I'll say it again.
Alot of people seem to STILL be hung up on Equestria and China. This will be the last time I comment on it. After this, I'm deleting posts.
The Equestrians were lucky to have even teleported to Earth, and not overshoot and hit the sun, or appear in the emptyness of space. It was dumb/terrible/shit/cruddy/random luck that they happened to land in China.
They didn't choose.
Equestrians did NOT CHOOSE WHERE THEY LANDED ON EARTH for FIRST CONTACT
Changelings CHOSE to pick a country where they could disappear far up into the mountains, jungles, terraced valleys, or then ship themselves to anypart of the world. TO HIDE.
Equestrians had to get to Earth first to set up an accurate beacon for other Equestrians to aim at.
Adam the Ant (Ch. 83 and Ch. 90) arrives during the 2nd wave, and becomes the role of negotiator to pull Equestrians out of conflict or confinement.
Third Wave of Equestrians played politics, trying to get their ponies who were being experimented on left and right on both sides of the conflict, or getting hacked apart and eaten, or forced into combat out of those situations. This is when Project SPECIAL comes into play when the Equestrians realize both sides are headed towards Mutually Assured Destruction, and decide to go all out on getting as many of their own people either off planet, or into bunkers to weather what was coming next.
That entire first wave was then trapped, unable to leave, unable to choose what happened next.
The Changelings felt drawn to Earth because of the Emotions. Changeling Queens ordered their subjects to hide and disperse among the public, not trusting the Equestrians, nor getting involved with politics. Focusing solely on survival, they ignore everything else. They go underground, and hide.

Another thing I touch on is the different types of teleporting between Changelings, Unicorns, and the Institute.
Especially Ch. 81 where I go deeper into describing how different the human/magic hybrid of teleporting is different than Athena's forceful 'Punching through' like a sonic boom, where she's basically dumping enormous amounts of magic and energy into getting to where she wants to be, because she has a massive amount of energy to draw upon. She's warping through space, not so much teleporting.
While as Meathead is more energy efficient, using as little energy as possible to achieve a jump. Where he only teleports himself, Athena grabs entire pockets of air, and the Institute carves out whole sections of reality and pulls it back to their relay chamber. That's more sci-fi realm of displacement, quantum entangled particles swapping instantaneously.
Had Athena accepted Meathead's offer for him to teach her how to teleport properly, she would be using far less energy much more efficiently to achieve the same teleportation.
Athena only saw Meathead teleport from place to place and just threw all her energy into doing the same to recreate that. Since she's much better off in terms of magical reserves, she's able to throw her magic around much more freely, and knows that she wont reach her limit or hit a wall as fast as Meathead would.
