Thanks for the feedback, I'll revise it!

Also "the authorities" is simply another way of referring to the police or investigative agency. Shining Armor is by no means a detective. And to add to this; the monarchs have greatly reduced powers compared to their canon counterparts. They are not above the law.

Thanks for the help. I really do appreciate it. And yeah, this takes a lot of inspiration from Suicide Squad. Granted, I wanted the characters to have a level of humanity to them (which is hard since they're anthro but bear with me), and I really try to make them relatable in some way. As for Fae, she's an odd one for sure, and she is often used as an innocent comedic relief. However, there is much more to her character than what lies on the surface. Her backstory is quite possibly the most tragic of the five, and the innocent face she puts on is simply a mask to hide her doubt and confusion. Thanks again for reviewing, I'll give you feedback on the next chapter when I can.

First off, thanks for the review! I'm glad you're looking deep into my story the way that you are. It shows your attention to setting and atmosphere in literature.
Let me explain a few things...
This story is anthro because, well, I'm used to it. It's a way for me to get close to the actual ponies bit, yet it adds a form of humanity to the story. I just like using anthro.
As for the AU. If you ever get deeper into the story, you'll find that there are subtle changes that eventually begin to connect with one another. I don't dump a big "what's different?" info-bomb on you at the start. That would be a waste of time in my opinion.
And it's really not supposed to be a dark story. It just has issues very grounded in reality. And reality is... well... it's kinda dark at times. Again, it has very bleak moments, yes, but it also encourages second chances and retribution. The characters are misfits-- ponies deemed failures either by society or themselves. I don't make things puposefully dark, I just refuse to sugarcoat stuff.
Hopefully that clears some things up.

Thanks for the compliment.
Fair enough regarding anthro. Everyone's got their preferences. What I meant in regards to AU wasn't necessarily regarding an info-bomb, but giving us a frame of reference. As an example,The Flash revolves around parallel timelines and changing history. When I refer to a frame of reference, I mean just giving us a vague idea of what's different, much like in The Flash. Doesn't tell us everything, but it does give us a decent idea as to what's changed, and in some cases, why.
As for dark, I get what you mean. Although my main point was regarding the bombing, as opposed to the fact that he's using criminals to form an elite team. I don't really get how bombs would come to be used in Equestria- and in general, I think terrorists are fairly out of place in the MLP universe, especially when the most high-tech weaponry we've ever seen used are spears, and the tanks are used for party purposes.

Hey... you see that Sci-Fi tag? That definitely isn't for show. The first chapter is not meant to establish setting, it's meant to establish the situation of Equestria in this world. This story has tech many years into the future, pal.
7658314 I see it, but like I said, there's little frame of reference. Twilight and Co. are still alive, so I'm still confused as to what's changed to give this high level tech.

Again, things are not explained right off the bat. This is a parallel Equestria; the world is not focused on magic like they are in the world we know. Magic exists, yes, but there's one simple reason why this world has progressed so exponentially. Because Starswirl was not a wizard... he was a scientist. And he proved to the world that Celestia and Luna don't have to raise the sun or moon for them to rise anyways.
