Actually...you are both correct, in terms of canon information.
Lauren Faust and Meghan McCarthy have said in Tweets and interviews that the ages of the Main Characters were deliberately left un-specific. However, they have also stated the Main Characters are "close" in age to each other too, and have given general age categories for them...
1. Applejack and Rarity are the "eldest." (note "quotations")
2. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash are the same age in the "middle."
3. Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle are the "youngest" of the six Element friends. (the latter seeming more mature due to her prodigy nature, her role as leader of the Elements of Harmony, and now her rank as alicorn Princess of Friendship)
4. Spike (rather obviously) is the very youngest. ~ a. However, Spike and Twilight Sparkle are "close" in age because Twilight Sparkle applied to Celestia's School For Gifted Unicorns at a very early age when she hatched Spike through her uncontrolled magical surge during The Cutie Mark Chronicles (S01, Ep23).
~ b. On a separate note, it Princess Celestia who raised Spike (not Twilight Sparkle) until he was old enough (or more accurately, mature enough) to assist Twilight Sparkle. .
See the "trick" to the more general age categories, though..? It covers the widest range to appeal to an equally wide-ranged audience. And that, is genuinely clever marketing.

So Reactor33 is correct that Spike & Twilight are separated by an age-gap of more than a single gear.
Likewise, Minequestria is correct that Spike is "only a little younger" than Twilight in terms of age-per-year.
On a separate note, if you drew inspiration from your cover image, you really should properly credit and Source Link its source & artist: Dirty Mind, by DeviantArt(ist) Electronvolt.
Glad to help . Giving proper credit where it is due is one of the major methods in gaining Respect, as much as giving it in return.
For future reference, 95% of pony fan-art used for fan-fictions are from DeviantArt. In this case, it was noted on the bottom-right corner of the image (thus easy to find).
Also hope my earlier post clarified things for you too.
I actually expected you to add something new. And I like what you did with it, specifically the whole duplicate having stronger emotions than the real one. In fact the whole duplicate idea has a lot that could be done to expand it a d I would really like to see you expand a bit more on just how different the duplicate can be.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this, but it just seems really rushed. For example, one minute the Twi's are chatting casually and the next AJ confesses being gay, then suddenly the Twi's kiss her and go for sex.
Before you say anything, yes, I know it's a clopfic and stuff like that happens, but please, pace is key and there is nothing wrong with filling chapters out a little bit before getting to the good stuff.
4526531 Yeah... that's actually true.... hmm... I just think it's a bit late to fix that now, when it's been up for right about 4-5 days now. And, it probably won't get a lot more reads, since it's starting to get hidden behind all the other good stories on fimfic again. ^^
But, then again, that's coming from an absolute amateur writer. What do you think?

Dont forget, when both Twi's were bucking AJ, they both had Maccum in them
4506332 Oh... yeah... I just pretend they used a spell to remove it. Otherwise Applejack just ate Mac's cum... no thanks xD
