Just to clear up a few things... -Twilight DID NOT kill all of the 625 humans before Orion, most were just failures -Humans have a regular life span, average 80 years. Some will die sooner, like laborers, and others will live into their hundreds if their owners care for them well enough -The Humans have been feral long before the Ponies took over. Celestia nor anyone else had anything to do with the Humans being feral. Sorry, no Tyrantlestia for you guys
You should find a way to give us these infos in the story, and not in the author's note.
Also, be carefull about your OC. Write a few flaws in his character:
For example, when he grows up, he could become arrogant, for he is the only intelligent human. Or he could be very curious, which brings him into trouble.
Just a few ideas, but the main idea is that no character is perfect.
We've got a huge human with the mind and average intelligence of a child in control of psychic/magical powers and/or telekinesis, and he has a righteousness complex.
This story feel somewhat like planet of the apes vibe, not it's a bad thing i love the movies even the remake. I just wonder if Orion will ever find out what happen to the other humans

Maybe it's the ambient magic of Equestria that degraded the humans ability at speech and higher thought. Or something evil could of put a curse on them.
I got it Twas DISCORD all along! He removed the humans sapience in order to use them as his main army! What's better than murderous animals? Definately not ones that would question his orders and try to rebel
So Twilight experimented on the humans. And she failed on most of them. Which we know ends up exploding their brains. But she didn't kill them. I fail to see your logic.
3826675 Just because she failed those experiments doesn't mean she killed them. It doesn't say anywhere that every failure had seizures or brain explosions.

Relax, he's only a few weeks old, and he has the equivalent mind of a 10 year old.
He'll mature and change. I do plan to give him a few faults.
Your a wizard Orion

Curiosity would be the better trait to lean toward, in my opinion.

Oh Lord. Now he has psychic powers. All is doomed.

In the words of Mel Brooks:
Well, shit. There goes the planet.
He used the force!!

Every time I imagine the humans I see them in a navy jumpsuit.
