Being a Better Writer: Embracing Conflict in All its Forms · 8:53pm Apr 11th, 2022
Welcome back readers! It’s Monday, and another Being a Better Writer article is upon us! Though first, I do have two bits of news. Don’t worry, they’re both short.

Today we have the conclusion to last week's story, when all comes to a boiling point, how will our Diamond Dog react?
Happy Filthy Friday~.
So … I picked that title because it looked and read better than my other alternatives. One of which was “The Heavy Hand of Whatever” which really didn’t inspire a lot of confidence. Another was the several knit-together topics that this post was to cover … which would leave you, readers, with a giant string to look at. Then the last was a giant string (______) in place of “the Writer.”
Oooh gosh, how do I manage to keep getting sick for all the holidays?
That is almost a serious question, I am confused.
Going to go lay down now.
Hello readers! Who’s ready for a busy week?
Why ask? Because it most definitely is going to be a busy one. For starters, Axtara – Banking and Finance completed the Alpha 1 this weekend! Which means it’s time for Alpha 2!
Or: Yet Another Way to Manage Pacing.
Welcome back readers! How are things going with you? Well and healthy I hope? Washing your hands? Using a mask? Doing your part?
I hope so. Globally, it’s still a pandemic, and we shouldn’t forget that.
I decided that it is time for a little slapstick comedy.
De Writer Meets Nayomi
fills that bill!
A tale of the perils of trying to raise a vegetable garden!
No pony was hurt in the making of this story!
Hey people! First off, apologies for being a bit late today. I stayed up late making sure the ad campaign for the Big 300 Sale had properly launched, slept late as a result, and then got sidetracked by a lot media news (Bethesda, if you’re curious).
Welcome once again, writers! It’s Monday, and you know what that means. It’s time for more Being a Better Writer.
I can't seem to write my own material anymore
Not that I haven't tried, but for the past month, I've only been able to work together with DJ or otherwise help out others with their work instead of my own for some reason.
And then there's the videogame addiction rearing it's ugly head again
DJ "Convinced" me to get Terraria, and then later Dragon Ball Xenoverse, which we have been playing together nonstop.
Fun!
All fiction is, at its core, a morality play. By which I mean, every story is meant to convince the reader of the goodness of some method of thinking and the badness of some other one. Children's TV is much more overt about it, of course, but in the end, everything does this to some greater or lesser extent. This is that central inequity I'm always talking about. You write the story with two different, conflicting approaches in mind, then you prove through your story which one will make your
Seriously, what the heck does that even mean? "Show, don't tell," I mean. You're writing as best as you can, but then some jerk editor like me writes, "Show, don't tell here" on your work like it's a gift from the gods, drops the mic, and walks away. And you're left staring at your story wondering what you did wrong. Truth be told, it, like all writing advice, is very complicated and not always correct. But I'll try my best to help you look behind the curtain and understand what exactly "show,
As fans of this particular series, we are, in a sense, extremely lucky. Something like 90% of the characters are female in persuasion*; not only that, but we get a wide variety of archetypes and expressions of that femininity. Many shows aren't so lucky. If you're lucky, you get one, maybe two, and they're usually generic girl characters, a token effort to make the story more inclusive. The truth is, the writing world is still trying to figure out who these strange creatures we call "women"
Well, well, well. It's certainly been a while, hasn't it? I'm sorry it's been so long. I've been meaning to get back on the saddle, but you know how it is. Always some easy distraction close at hand. Well, this year, no more! (Ignore the last time I said that then didn't update for six months.) I'm going to pump out regular Workshops and make the most of it! Today, I thought I'd cover a topic that recently came to my attention: comic relief. What is it, and how do we use it in stories? That's
No, that's not the name of my new law firm. It's three different concepts to help you make every part of your story interesting.
It is happening again... I have a major case of writers block... Been stuck for like two hours. Hopefully it will pass soon.
Have another interview! Despite being the second one posted, Cal's was actually started first.
Hey, all! Time for another fun little lesson. This time, we're gonna talk about writing backstory and how much you need to set up beforehand. Let's begin.

I know its been a while since we've posted a new chapter, but we've ran into some difficulties. We do have some ideas on the next chapter, but getting it down is the problem. All writers run into this problem, so I know it will pass and we can put the chapter. If any of you can give us some advice on how to get over it faster, it will be greately appreciated.
