RACE WEEK · 12:26pm Jul 2nd, 2023
And not merely race week, but sprint week!
It's official:
A Sound in the Dark makes twenty stories! What do you have to say to that Flutters? See? She's excited.
So I've been thinking:
If a new Ranma 1/2 anime came out, a fair chunk of the English dub cast would need to be recast, due to the original cast either having left voice work, being too busy, or having died. Also, even though some important characters' voices are (or appear to be) still in the business, it'd be a good idea to refresh some important characters with new voices just to shake things up.
Third race of the season, back in Melbourne for the first time since pre-covid.
Who will win? Has Mercedes un-shit their mess tin? Can Honey Badger podium as the only Australian on the grid? Can Red Bull win again? Can Ferrari keep up their streak? Can Bottas show Mercedes they did him a favor by firing him? Can Haas show they belong in the midfield and not the basement?
We'll have to wait and see. But it's gonna be lit.
This week is the first-ever Miami Grand Prix. I won't be so arrogant as to make predictions; two weeks for Mercedes to unshit their mess tins and Red Bull to address reliability problems is a long time. And Ferrari is gonna Ferrari. It's a safe bet the race will surprise everyone.
However, I would love to see Magnusson on the podium. For the lone US team to get their first podium at a US race would be heckin cool.
The race was almost exciting for all the wrong reasons.
Esteban Ocon had to come in for tires on the penultimate lap, and some galaxy brain had let the photographers loose into the pit lane:
Very lucky Ocon was already on the brakes, especially given the awful visibility around the chicane.
The Spanish Grand Prix is happening in Barcelona this week. Although I'm cheering for the Red Bulls, my intuition says Ferrari is in for a good week.
Monaco next week, big hype!
(Note: I've decided that my essays are written from a Doylist POV rather than a Watsonian POV. Basically, its from MY POV rather than from Coin Flips)
On Cutie Marks.
The term "cutie mark" refers to the marking on the rump of a pony. Since MLP is targetted towards girls (although FiM has gained quite the large periphery audience), the name sounds cutesy. I'm fine with that. Coin Flip would probably call it a rump marking, because he's (most of the time) a stallion.
I live in the states, so well, sadly, even with places like crunchyroll, and a few others, its often easy to miss a movie, or series that gets not as much hype. Now, interestingly, i had no idea this was a game first, if looking was right. Sadly, it's not made it to states that well. But it was a movie I was amazingly interested in. Released last year, it never really bridged the gap, until I managed to stumble across it by pure accident. An hour and forty minutes later. I had cried, laughed,
"Stand back!" Blue said, adopting what he thought was a "tough" pose. "I am Lance! The Dragon Master of the Elite four! Face me and prepare to be defeated!!"
"No fair!" Red complained. "You always get to be Lance!"
"That's just 'cause I'm awesome!" Blue said frankly. "You can be the new guy... What's his name?"
"I don't wanna be Bruno!" Red whined. "He never wears a shirt! Lance has that awesome cape, and really tough Dragons!"
Hey!
So, I just published the first chapter of my story! I'm thinking of commissioning a friend for a drawing for a new cover! Check out Chapter 1 and give me some positive criticism? That'd be great! Thank you so much!
There's a saying in writing "Take from one source, it's plagiarism. Take from ten sources, it's theft. Take from thirty sources, it's considered a tribute. Take from a hundred sources, it's considered worldbuilding." Sometimes, when reading a fic, I find an idea I like. This post will be comprised of ideas I like, where I found them and who wrote the stories the idea came from.
Referring to my previous blog, you'll notice that I'm currently planning on writing a new comedy fic based around Twilight being sent back in time, and meeting ponies from Generation 1 of MLP. As such, I'm gonna... *cough cough* have to watch gen-1 episodes. Just from the intro, I can tell that it'll be a doozy.
