I like writing about the worst day of a character's life; it lets us see the mettle inside. (Pronouns: RB/20 )

    Some books I love

I haven't produced much content lately. Just not feeling "pony." Been working on some space opera I might post to Royal Road or Amazon or something someday.

In light of my recent lack of content, have some of my favorite books:

Me: What did you learn in school today?

Kid: We learned about "SPQR" in ancient Rome.

    Always worth a re-read

I just re-read, for the sixth or eighth time, one of my all time favorite books:
Neptune's Inferno: The U.S. Navy at Guadalcanal, James D. Hornfischer

Azerbaijan Grand Prix · 10:34pm Apr 30th, 2023

The race was almost exciting for all the wrong reasons.

Esteban Ocon had to come in for tires on the penultimate lap, and some galaxy brain had let the photographers loose into the pit lane:

Very lucky Ocon was already on the brakes, especially given the awful visibility around the chicane.

This reminds me of how badly the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix was handled during that safety car. Just like there, this could have very VERY EASILY ended in tragedy. Had someone on pit road not been paying attention and Ocon couldn't hit the brakes in time, someone could have died. Pit lane speed limit is about 50 mph I think. Slow for an F1 car, but not when it's connecting with the human body. Hopefully the FIA do what needs to be done so that things are kept safe. People need to be held accountable for this because people's lives were put in danger when there was zero reason for it. Damn, sorry for the rant but seeing stuff like that gets the blood pumping:twilightsheepish:

And also, I regret waking up at 6am for this snooze fest of a race!:rainbowlaugh:

I had the race on the left monitor, Discord on the right monitor, and Cities: Skylines on the middle monitor.
