On Santa Claus · 10:22pm Dec 22nd, 2020

I've never believed in Santa Clause. I knew the story of course, but my parents just never bothered trying to convince me he was real in any way or anything like that. I can't say I blame 'em. Not to sound selfish, but if I'm gonna be splurging money on gifts for my kids, I at least want to get my due credit for it.

I don't think I need to remind anybody of what's gone down–and is still going down–in Washington today. Suffice it to say it's become an utter hellscape down there.

Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit is a masterpiece. For the longest time I thought nothing could top it.

I was flippin' wrong.

Jurassic Park: Stop Motion Animatics · 12:38am Dec 24th, 2019

Before the decision was made to use CGI, the dinosaurs of 1993's Jurassic Park were initially going to be animated via stop motion. Although this never came to pass, certain test reels were used to help map out the final scenes.

Below are two such test reels, specifically from the T-Rex Attack and the Raptor Kitchen sequence.

My Christmas Haul [2019] · 2:39pm Dec 25th, 2019

Hello everyone, and Merry Christmas! I hope you're all doing well today.

Well, gift-unwrapping at my place has been completed. We usually do this sort of thing early in the morning. My brother and I are just childishly impatient like that. Anyway, I thought I'd take the time to share some of the gifts that I received from my parents this year.

Apologies in advance for the quality of the pictures. I took all of these on my Android, so sorry for that.

21 Years · 2:55pm Sep 11th, 2022

9/11 happened 21 years ago today.

I'd like to take the time to remember not just the thousands that perished that day, but the millions more lives lost in the ensuing War on Terror over the following years. It wasn't just a one-and-done tragedy; it set off two decade's worth of fear and mistrust and death. It affected us all, one way or another.

"Deliver Us" in Ukrainian · 1:07pm Feb 11th, 2023

I sometimes listen to music while working on my writing. One of my go-to sources while working on Stallion of Tomorrow's been The Prince of Egypt's score, and the other day out of curiosity I wondered if there was a version in Ukrainian.

There is, and it hits so hard.

MOVIE REVIEW: "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" (1979) · 12:35am Mar 15th, 2020

Good grief, how long has it been since I did a movie review around these parts? I don't even remember the last one I did. I think I was actually gonna do a book review of H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds, but then a certain friend of mine reminded me of this movie, I went and rewatched it, and here we are.

So without further to do, let's dig into my thoughts on...

I did a thing for Batman Day · 12:19am Sep 23rd, 2019

For my Sound Design class this semester, one of our earliest assignments was to pick any monologue we wanted and record it in the sound booth. My choice was the Joker's eulogy from the Batman: The Animated Series episode "The Man Who Killed Batman".

Looking back, I might have been a little bit too enthusiastic at the beginning, but what can I say? I was having a blast in there.

Also, voice reveal. Sort of.

Latest Addition to our Christmas Tree · 2:49am Dec 16th, 2019

2019 marks the 40 year anniversary of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. While one of the more divisive films among the Trek fanbase, I personally love it. Watching this movie on my family's old VHS player at the tender age of three years old is one of the defining moments of my life, I feel. It was like I had this awakening of just how big and mysterious the Universe really is...and how much the human mind can create with our imaginations. The beautiful starship Enterprise, the alien

The Eerie Sounds of Saturn · 8:40pm Feb 20th, 2021

...well this isn't unnerving at all.

Fun fact: these aren't actually audible sounds. They're radio waves coming from auroras in the planet's atmosphere that were picked up by the Cassini probe and translated into audible sound.
