We need to be better · 11:19pm Jan 6th, 2021

I don't think I need to remind anybody of what's gone down–and is still going down–in Washington today. Suffice it to say it's become an utter hellscape down there.

We need to do better. As a people, as a nation, as a species, we need to be better than this. And I don't mean just on a political scene, I mean just in general. And yes, we absolutely can be better. We're flawed and broken, but we're not hopeless. If I believed that we were, then I'll be frank, I might've not bothered to stick around to write this by a good few years. But I, for one, do not believe that the world is only doom and gloom, or that we're all spiraling through a meaningless existence to oblivion.

But if we want things to be better, then we need to do what we can to make that turnaround. We're not all gonna be big heroes. We're not all gonna be in places of power or influence, or even be widely known. But do what you can. Always try to be nice. Never fail to be kind. Never be cruel. Never be cowardly.

Basically just start by being a decent person. We'll cross the next couple of bridges when we get there. One step at a time.

Maybe we'll save the world in a big way, maybe we won't. Maybe we'll save people, from either trouble or themselves. Some we won't be able to, by either fate or choice. Lord knows none of it is going to be easy.

But we have to try.

I want to. I know I have to. I'm terrified to do it, I'm terrified of this whole crazy messed up world, but I have to do what I can on my end. Because if I don't, then I feel that I cannot rightfully call this my home.

sometimes I'm sad to be a human seeing how much we hurt each other or hate each other other then talking and trying to understand each other.

Well said. Maybe now we can start the healing.

Very well said, Jade. Let's hope that we can live up to the hope for being better.

The problem is that it is always easier to be angry than it is to be positive, and angry messages get more attention. Anger is useful when sending a message or rallying others to your cause.

You would think that people would at least be suspicious when someone stands up claiming to be a Moral Agent wants you to be angry at the state of the world: but I concede that herd mentality is a powerful drug.

The best we can do is try to be better.
Stay safe
