Frankly, they need to change the metric for getting featured. Maybe add a chapter threshold so a new story with one chapter gets featured simply because all of the writer's friends came in and rated it thumbs up.

Oh, so that's how they're adding to it. I knew it was deleted and that I couldn't follow the links, but I didn't know how they were still able to select it as a valid group to which they could add stories.

That's the thing: it doesn't exist. When you click on the "add to groups" button and you were a part of ANY deleted group, it will still be on that list. It's one of the many things that has to be fixed.
