Shining Became immortal after he and Cadance vanquished the changelings back in season 2, by performing a repell spell and a soul binding spell. Likely so no one can seperate shining from Cadance ever again. Simple magic mixed with some basic biology for ya!

I'd say she'd be the Princess of Light. Alicorns are immortal, right? Or at least they live a long time, so Cadance won't be stepping down from the throne anytime soon. They always say that the Crystal Heart spreads Love and Light. Cadance is the princess of love, it only makes sense for her to rule alongside her daughter who is the princess of light, both representing the Crystal Heart.

It's a small world.

After watching the MLP Season 6 premiere, I had this story idea focusing on Flurry Heart. She lives a happy life in the Crystal Empire unaware of what happened during the Crystalling. When she finally hears about it and she was named after the snow-like flurry from a group of ponies, she begins to believe herself to be a dangerous being that might hurt everypony and starts evoiding her supjects. Her family(including Shining Armor, Princess Cadence, Twilight Sparkle and her friends, Spike, Starlight Glimmer, and Sunburst) tries to convince her that she is not some sort of harmful being, but to no avail. Not wanting to do any damage to anypony, Flurry Heart regects her royal inheritance and leaves Equestria vowing never to return. On her journey(which lasses 5 years), she meets many different creatures(including Monkeys, dragons, griffons, even a good hearted draconequus who brings joy and wonder), makes many friends, and learns not to be afraid of the power she holds in her.
