There's something fishy going on here... this group, they're far too organized for sand people raiders. Even with a good leader, they aren't usually this bright... and with all the unicorns, I'm feeling a pretty strong Goddess vibe.
A shame the stealth plan didn't work out, but that would probably have been a bit more boring anyway.
3344605 Oh? 3344616 Yeah, straight-up stealth is kinda boring. I mean, it's neat, but writing that would just get tedious. 3344617 Perhaps a touch, but it's more fun to write a guy who has to be careful about combat instead of running in, screaming at the top of his lungs that he's gonna make you eat your own heart. Okay, maybe not, but it's more realistic. After all, Thomas isn't wearing power armour. That and I don't want Moonbeam to be the Load. She's a Wastelander, she has to at least be competent.
I am ashamed to say that my Courier has enough weapons and ammo(thank you quarters master at Hoover Dam) on him to arm a small army and level Red eyes compound, If I wrote him well.....all baddies in the Equestrian Wasteland would be in trouble. Keep up the good work.
A few chapters ago he was able to shrug off a bullet to the face, and a grenade. As the author said, the Courier isn't wearing nigh-impenetrable power armor. While in game the armor he is wearing is among the best, it is ultimately up to the author to determine how strong it is. That being said, is his helmet repaired after the grenade blast?
And in this chapter it is revealed that, at least weapon wise, actual Fallout universe has one up in terms of firepower. Note that I say this as someone who has never read the original Fallout Equestria, so I am not sure if there is an equivalent to the displacer glove.
Personally, I want to see Thomas with Esther or the Red Glare, with the Smitty Special and SMMG as well. Because he should totally be able to carry all of that, he's strong enough, right? Right?
3344640 Alicorn would be my guess. or perhaps just a Unity preacher? the Goddess did mention she sent out a couple, though why raiders of all people would listen would be anyone's guess
3344768 That was his helmet. And the helmet wasn't that badly damaged by the grenade. However, the shrapnel did a number on its air filters. And although there may not have been a Displacer Glove equivalent in the main story, I'm sure a side-story has something like it, probably MAS tech.
For some reason I keep thinking there will be some big reveal where it turns out the raider and their leader were trying to do something good and now Thomas and Moonbeam just blew everything up
3346092 Depends how you define good. After all, Caesar's Legion unified all of Arizona under a single banner through mass-murder, torture and removal of cultural identities. A good goal, but the means leave a lot to be desired.
Best update in awhile in my favorites and awesome chapter by the way. Oh and when my guys in elite riot gear he has 46.1 DT if holding a melee/unarmed weapon and 41 without it but my guys more like Ethan than anything. I like the way you have Thomas he isn't that unstoppable tank like Ethan but somehow just as dangerous. Keep up the great chapters and my advice Thomas should have a epic unarmed displacer glove battle with a alicorn or whatever their boss is.
But seriously, it's nice to der her developing a more practical combat role, from a not so sneaky, timid scavenger wo can carry lots of small loot to a hard hitting gunner who packs a shitload 'a ammo (and it helps that she isn't the usual sneak-hit hard once fighter). and no matter how much more confident in combat, she's still as ador(k)able as always <3 (although the Courier does seem to have that general kind of effect on their companions (looking at you, Cass, Ronnie, Raul) in the course of their travels)
As for Thomas, interesting to see him use some more diverse inventory (even if he can hand load .45-70 when there's none of that specific ammo around, he's gotta keep up the variety for ammo conservayshun and equipment wear)
3348017 heh, made me hear that superman tune in my head x3 More than a horse, more than a horn, More than some ex-mailman's pet unicorn
3350829 Part of the reason for keeping his ammo types limited is to force him to use strategies he otherwise wouldn't. After all, if that was an assault carbine instead of the Medicine Stick, it'd be a lot easier for him to gun down raiders by the bus-load. And sometimes, a bunch of single-shot weapons (repeaters and revolvers) just don't do the trick.
And sometimes, he has to kill fast and bullets too slow.
3352796 Well, that's ßardon. He sells shitloads of otherwise rare ammo.
Edit, I mean, that would be like saying factionless 45d was easy to obtain because the Khan amoureur sells it on occasion.(or displacer gloves, for that matter)
edit2 oh wait, Contreras, not Bardon. Still, he's somewhat a specialty merchant like the latter.
@3346092 or maybe he was transported to a peaceful Equestria and the raider ponies are his PTSD fantasy. Poor ponies just swarmed him to welcome him warmly, and his reaction is to go 120% violently ape shit on em :D
That Displacer Glove wouldn't happen to be Pushy, right? This thing right here.
Pushy is a unique version of the displacer glove. Instead of the usual silver plating, the forearm unit and knuckle plate emitter are dark gray, and the glove is a tan color instead of red. As with the regular displacer glove, Pushy causes a knockback effect on a successful hit, with a visual effect similar to that of a Gauss rifle. Pushy has the highest DPS of any unarmed weapon in the base game, but is ultimately outclassed by the Industrial Hand with all DPS-aided perks added.
4970948 Yep. However, I'm adding a sense of realism to it in that it requires small energy cells, like it has in its world model, and that it has an on/off switch. Originally, they wanted the Displacer Glove and the Ballistic Fist to need to be reloaded, but they either didn't have time or couldn't get the reload animation done in time.
well I kinda did... and I can already see what your probably going to make the boss.

I don't think the Courier is underpowered at all.
A few chapters ago he was able to shrug off a bullet to the face, and a grenade.

Well, sucks to be a raider today.
Congrats Thomas. You are now guaranteed to go to Canterlot.
Ah,Displacer Gloves...

Ya know, when I first read the chapter's title, I was afraid poow widdle Moonywoony was gonna lose her horn in the attack.

The raider boss had better be worth all this build-up.
