The story itself revolves largely around the mechanics of time and the history of Equestria as it is before and after changes of the past. Featuring a young unicorn stallion named Chrono Spark as a lead character, alongside others that he has already known and has yet to meet, adventures crossing outside of both time and space soon follow, incorporating characters both within and without canonical presence.
Subject matter can easily be considered grimdark due largely to psychologically intensive moments throughout the story, and several moderately detailed hostile scenes.

Demons are feared, exiled criminals are hated, and freaks of nature just aren't tolerated. Luna and Celestia happen upon a stallion whose looks can change and shift almost at will, and they discover a past that is more confusing than they had first thought. As they shine a light upon one mystery of this strange pony's past, they find several other, more pressing issues. A social outcast, living in the Everfree Forest for a portion of his life, with his parents killed and himself almost being destroyed when he was exiled, Bacigalupo Esilio is not what one would consider 'likable'... or is he?
