Normally I'd ask why not remake the first one, but Silent Hill 2 is conveniently barely connected to Silent Hill 1 aside from the setting, so it's not like you'd need a SH1 remake for a SH2 remake to make sense.
I imagine making contact with Masahiro Ito again was like that classic setup with the retired military veteran being contacted by his old boss that threw him under the bus to come out of retirement for one more job.
Konami must've been like "Look if we don't get Ito and Yamaoka out there in front as a peace offering they're going to fucking DEVOUR US."
I don't know much about Bloober team but that is NOT a bad library of games they've made so that's encouraging.
HRM... THIRD PERSON PLAYER CONTROLLED CAMERA... you're definitely going to have to change certain things to account for not having control of what the player can see at certain points, unless they're going to do something like Downpour did where it was player controlled sometimes and fixed at other times. Just for the love of FUCK don't put Homecoming style combat in plzplzplz.
Boy that... SURE WERE IMAGES AND SOUNDS on that Townfall trailer. Can't really say much on it. I guess there's something to be said for making it so that the latest game in the series is no longer Book of Memories.
OKAY... I might have plenty of issues with Christoph Gan's Silent Hill movie, but the fact remains that IN SPITE of those issues, it was still basically my personal introduction to the series, and at the time it came out it still managed to be one of the most faithful videogame adaptations, at least in video and audio. If he wants to take another stab at it that ERASES REVELATION with a movie that is hopefully no worse than mediocre I WILL TAKE IT.
All those weapons they made for the James Sunderland statue but they forgot his most iconic weapon of all:
I mean... the monster looked okay. Not sure it has that Silent Hill look necessarily, but other than that I can only assume Ascension is going to be some kind of interactive series ala Heist with Markiplier or something.
Huh... Silent Hill f certainly has an interesting LOOK to it, but it's also so different that I fear it might become one of those offshoot entries that it feels like it's related to the original in name only, know what I mean? Like if you hadn't had that title drop at the end I would not have guessed it was remotely related to Silent Hill at all. Still, LOOKS interesting.
Okay that about wraps it up, definitely not structured in the slightest but I was kind of going for that live twitter thread feel so I could give a little comment on everything as I saw it. Back to work, I have something planned for my birthday on Saturday for you all.
It's not Silent Hill related, and I'm sorry for that, but it's what has taken up the scant bits of creativity I've been able to muster up the focus to act on in recent years and I hope you will enjoy it.
I have seen the teaser trailer and it's giving me RE2 remake vibes, which is good.
