Chapter 17

Hi I'm Chapter 17 and everything I touch inevitably turns grimdark! :D

When Lance Strongshy's medical career is endangered due to relentless nightmares depriving him of sleep, his daughter Fluttershy once again overlooks the horrible past she suffered at his hooves and enlists the help of her friends to cure him. But, when the only sufficiently expedient solution turns out to be a certain spell that Twilight was instructed to never cast again, it becomes uncertain if their efforts will save him, or utterly destroy him.

A sequel to JakeHeritagu's Silent Ponyville 2, read that first if you haven't already: http://www.fimfiction.net/story/4868/Silent-Ponyville-2

You sir has been fav and track:moustache:

Been following since the beginning back DA and tis an awesome story good sir  Glad your over here too!

I've been waiting a million years for this fucking story to update, and ZING tons of chapters on FIMfiction.

Getting so goodddddd. Love ALL the Silent Ponyvilles!

Considering what Lance did to his daughter, but also considering how much he loved his wife, I can't tell whether or not I should be entertained by his suffering, or if I should pity the poor bastard.

I'm also noticing a very consistent theme with the man; He is unable to take full responsibility for his actions. Yet paradoxically, he loathes himself. You've characterized the good- I mean bad doctor quite well.

And the monstrous alicorn abomination is terrifying. Is she an expy of Pyramid Head? Because I can't stop imagining the sounds she makes as moans of pleasure every time she mutilates something or causes pain.

Looking forward to more.

Posey: Yo' body needs water, so DRINK THAT S**T!

Yay for reference to The Party Hasn't Ended!:rainbowkiss:! I love allusions.:pinkiehappy:

argh! I can't wait for more....NEED MOAR! :flutterrage:

Ohhhhh that's why he has the watch. Brilliant!

310547 Between pity and entertainment, The obvious answer is both. Silent hill (and silent ponyville by extension) is a place of penance for sins and untouchable pasts. Enduring the penance is a vindictive justice for us, the readers (and players), but serving his sentence for his evils, we may also now forgive him slightly, and grow pity to replace the anger we previously held as he suffers.

Brony17: Would you mind adding the link to Silent Ponyville 2 to your description? I don't mind, but I hadn't read the other two and I had thought it was a stand alone work going into it, so I missed a lot. (I've got them cued for reading now though) Just as a convenience to the readers :) Keep up the good work, and I can't wait to see more

Sure, I've already gotten a few angry PMs about how I'm 'ripping off' Jake so I guess the clarification wouldn't hurt. XD

340278 You would think him linking to you in Study would fix that, but oh well. people will be people.

It's hard to believe considering I link to your story in one of the official Silent Ponyville stories. After all this story is in canon with the Silent Ponyville series.

The best possible reply.

Say, are you updating this?
B/c you uploaded the entire story so far on one day....
and then it stopped.

Just wondering.

It's been going for a while on Devart, Jake needed me to post it here so he could post Study of the Mind Delve and eventually SP3, so I just uploaded all that I had so far.

not as actiony as the origanals but still gets the heart racing. love it.

Wait, so this isn't even finished?

Well, I'm slightly confused now.

How can you have a sequel to something when its not even finished? I ask because isn't there two fics by Jake that occur after this?

Yes there are. When he runs into an event in his story that he thinks would have been affected by an event in mine, he brings it to my attention and I give him the relevant information so things stay consistent. Fortunately the need for this is minimal because, what with everything before Silent Ponyville 3 taking place inside of a conveniently isolated Mind Delve spell, each story is fairly contained and only a few key facts need to be brought over from one to the other without spoiling all that much. I do apologize as I am far from the fastest writer out there, and I definitely got a bit overambitious while planning this story, but this arrangement will at least ensure that Jake can press forward with his own story at whatever pace he likes without having to wait up for me. I never expected Reunion to be canonized when I started writing it, and while I'm certainly grateful that it was I have to admit that merging it into the timeline while the both of us are working at different points simultaneously is going to have some rough edges. One of the hazards of multiple authors in the same series I suppose. :twilightoops:

In depth answer is in depth.

Hmmm...I may have to go ahead and start reading it then...I was a bit worried that there might be major things that may be of importance in the sequels if I skipped this.

Out of curiosity, is there anything in the sequels that would seem odd if I don't read this? You don't have to provide specifics, but if there is some things that may confuse me, I want to know now so that way I can decide whether or not to go ahead and start reading this one.

There are a few yes, but if I recall correctly they're either not at all that consequential or just reasonable extensions of events that had already taken place in Silent Ponyville 2 that I believe Jake had been planning to do anyway before I started Reunion. At worst it's pretty much like what Derpy did to the town hall at the beginning of The Last Roundup; you don't know EXACTLY what happened, but you can make a reasonable guess, and not knowing the specifics doesn't hinder the story.

ugh why has this not been updated in over 2 weeks? I need to know what happens next!

I apologize for the lack of updates! There's been a lot on my plate recently and it's been difficult to get the writing done quickly after coming home feeling stressed out and dog tired. I know this doesn't make it okay that I haven't updated in so long, but I suppose an explanation of why is better than nothing. If it's any consolation, I do feel really freakin' bad about how slowly this has been getting written as of late and I'm still trying to improve in that respect. :pinkiesad2:

I'll try and have the next part up by Monday or Tuesday night!

The things that I have occur seem out of place if you don't even know this exists. HOWEVER, if you are aware that at some point Lance went into the Mind Delve, then they're not as weird. Things draw out to a conclusion you would normally come to in my stories if such knowledge is true. Also, from what I can tell from the fans of my series who didn't bother to read this, they seem to have understood. Fluttershy 'forgiving' her father seems to have been enough for the events that play out to make sense.

Regardless of that though, Silent Ponyville: Reunion was actually my inspiration to get better as an author. I was literally blown out of the water by how GOOD Brony17 was and I suddenly realized I had competition within my own series (even if that wasn't true). So you'll notice a tremendous jump in quality from Silent Ponyville 2 to Silent Ponyville 3, and that's all due to Reunion. I give all my credits to this guy and his amazing work and more people should love it than they do.

im pretty sure ive figured out who the two ponies are now but ill read some more to be sure:twilightsmile:

i think something bad is about to happen:rainbowkiss:

Great story so far, can't wait to read more!

Tell The Truth! Gah! :flutterrage: Applejack is not amused :ajbemused:

That, was a awesome chapter...I do believe with this one I can finally figure out who the malicorn is supposed to represent. Although the mare with the bolt cutter mouth throws a wrench in that idea...I'll stick with my assessment.

Oh man, that is an awesome nick name. XD

"Wh...why me?! Why do you kee-MMMMPH!"

Oh, Lance. You'll find out soon enough. :pinkiecrazy:

While I am always eager for more Silent Ponyville, this one seems to have a lot of unnecessary fluff. Additionally, I am somewhat confused as to why the Call is being tossed around like hot potato. If Silent Hill(ponyville) was tossed around this much, it's a wonder the whole of Equestria doesn't know what it is by now.

But I got several chapters to go, so hopefully things get cleared up.

Malice + Alicorn = Awesome name for the species[?]

Sovreign: awesome name for that SPECIFIC Malicorn.

Possible relation to origins? I'mmma guess she represents his hatred for Fluttershy...LITERALLY coming back to bite him.

431784 I do declare that by that logic, Nightmare Moon is a malicorn. Which is awesome :D

Fascinating chapter. I think I understand the Sovereign and the nurses now. The drowning mare is obvious enough. The bolt cutter could be a few things, so I'll wait to pass judgement on her. Lastly, the crazy spider mare I have no clue, but it makes great nightmare fuel :)

What's more amazing is I don't even know how I made that name happen. :twilightoops:

But hey, it seems I made a cool nickname for this mean ass alicorn.

But if this is before "a rainbow surprise" and "silent ponyville 3" then why isn't this done yet?
I mean, i don't want to rush you or imply anything negative here or anything like that, but I like reading stories like this sequentially, and you are kind of falling behind jake's stories.
Rest assured, however, that i am going to read this; i'm sure jake wouldn't give the go ahead if he didn't like your style. (Not that you would technically need his permission, but it's cool that you seekd it out.)
Do you know how much longer this story is going to be tho?

I went into this a bit unorganized. I have a storyline in my head that I'm going to keep following but I can't give you a solid chapter count on how much longer it's going to be.

That said, consider this story a side quest compared to Jake's main storyline in that you might enjoy it but it's not really necessary and can be pretty much skipped at will. As I said in a reply to somebody else above, I had no idea this would be made canon when I first started writing it, but even though at the time it was pretty much AU material, I still wanted to mostly keep my hands off of things Jake had already written about and stick to characters he hadn't explored all that much. You're not going to be confused at all as long as you know Lance had Mind Delve cast on him after Silent Ponyville 2. So feel free to go ahead and read the rest of Jake's stuff, I certainly can't object to somebody skipping an incomplete story after all! :twilightblush:

Almost done... jesus this is a long fanfic.

I still haev my own guesses as to what represents what in Lance's version of Silent Ponyville. I just hope I'm right. Actually, i hope I'm wrong; it would make things so much cooler.

But Lance is just fine in a Rainbow's Surprise. How did he get out?

To be answered in a future chapter sir, the story is incomplete!
On another note I appreciate your reading my story despite the fluff, and even if you end up not liking it I thank you for giving it a chance!

Well, there's for me not telling the difference between complete and incomplete.

Out of curiosity, when are going to get pictures of the beasts like in the previous Silent Ponyville stories?

"Judging by the number on it, he'd just left floor 304"
"Lance then rubbed the sore feeling out of his eyes and looked at the door again. 303 was predictably absent."

Well, considering he wasn't close to any 303 :pinkiehappy:

Otherwise, still a pretty awesome fic. Wonder what will happen next to the doctor. Seems like he finally had a reminder of his daughter's name but didn't take it into account.

He was looking down one floor from the floor he'd just left, so if the floor he'd just left 304, the floor he was looking down at from that point would be 303. I think that was a needless attempt to be clever that backfired on me though and I should probably come up with some other way to put it. :twilightsheepish:

512161 I'm pretty sure the pictures for the previous ones came when the author was finished with those two. So it might be a while untill we seen any!

512769 Ah, I think I get what you're saying. Well! I'm not exactly the brightest apple in the tree, so to speak, so other people might get what you tried to do. :ajsmug:

Nice chapter, I really enjoy the tidbits of lance and posey's life before fluttershy that we get to peek at between the stressful situations lance finds himself in.

I'm surprising myself more and more with how much I like Lance as a character. I guess there's two kinds of evil; Evil for the sake of evil, and evil born of pain. The more I read about what he had with Posey... No, I don't think I blame him quite as much for destroying Fluttershy's childhood.

Also, Jesus tapdancing Christ, regenerating nurses? Thank God we never got those in the games. Deeeaugh
