Finally releasing a fixfic that I've worked on sporadically over more than two years · 3:38am Sep 20th, 2022
I was really unhappy with the finale of FiM, mostly because I felt it took the lazy options with the villains (and in so doing raised serious ethical problems with the princesses*) and made for a really stupid conflict of "suddenly everypony's a little racist and isolated and they just come together immediately offscreen".
The fixfic I've now published is my attempt to correct things, making for I think a much more sane approach that actually follows the show's values. I hope people like it...I had intended to get it out before G5 started, but there were some issues really holding it back with getting the setup right relating to Cozy Glow and Tirek.
*: Even if you agree Cozy and Tirek belong in stone and deserve the suffering of being motionless, but aware, as birds pee on them and ponies mock them, for potentially millennia, having 2 non-aging villains with one normal pony means a triumvirate will rise at some point in the future; it'd be better to just let Cozy age to death in a maximum-security kindergarten. Celestia and Luna just chuckling at doing this is a serious problem with their characters.
The show ended horribly.
