Mysterious Mare-Do-Well — Upcoming Chapter Outlines · 1:42am Sep 11th, 2022

So, after reading the “Season 10” of MLP in IDW, and watching the aftermath in MLP: A New Generation and then some, I got a general story outline for my “MLP Gen. 4.5.” (No, not Pony Life…)

So…

Our heroine, Mysterious Mare-Do-Well, is stationed in Hope Hollow.

She’s the new pony, as a direct nod to the fan-game/visual novel Welcome to Ponyville, in which no pony knows her real name.

Not long after Princess Twilight’s ascension to supreme ruler of Equestria, following the defeat of the Legion of Doom, there has been a huge power vacuum of villainy. With criminals getting bolder, with Princess Twilight and her friends spread thin across the world, Equestria is in need of a new hero.

  1. Erebus — A cloud demon who is now the employer of Cloud Gremlins and Strife. They plot to seize control of Equestria’s weathers in Cloudsdale.
  2. Draggle and Reeka — Two bumbling witches from the universe of MLP Gen.1. They came looking for their runaway daughters and S’monies.
  3. Squirk — An evil octopus sorcerer who was a tyrannical of Seaquestria.
  4. Grogar (the real deal) — An evil ram necromancer who seeks to reclaim his long-lost bewitching bell.
  5. King Diomedes — The tyrannical ruler of the Thracian ponies. After his daughter, Swift Foot, failed to sow the seeds of chaos into the Student Six, he imprisoned her as punishment, seeking to wage war against Equestria himself.

Next episodes

  • Cloudsdale’s Weather Factory is under attack by Cloud Gremlins, under the employment of a Cloud Demon named Erebus, who aims to plunge all of Ponyville in total darkness.
  • Two bumbling witches have come from another world, looking for their daughters. Trouble is…they’re always causing troubles wherever they go.

Looks like you're really getting this figured out

And all it took was the unresolved plot holes that the producers and writers had left in the aftermath of the finale, and IDW Comics. And the more burning questions after watching the MLP: A New Generation movie.

  • What happens to the so-called “Knights of Harmony” after their defeat? Are they still plotting some sort of hostile takeover of Equestria? More determined than ever to overthrow Princess Twilight and friends’ reign of harmony?
  • What happened to Swift Foot, after she returned to Thrace? Has she succeeded in reforming and convincing her people that Friendship is Magic? Or has she been imprisoned as a traitor, disowned by her father, King Thrace? And are the Thracians plotting to invade Equestria?
  • And the biggest question of all: WHAT HAPPENED TO HUMAN SUNSET SHIMMER?

Oh, yeah the IDW season 10 finale left much to wonder about these Knights. We'll never know about Swift Foot's fate, and yes they decided to scrap the Human Sunset Shimmer project

Will Grogar be the “Thanos” of the story or King Diomedes? Also, will Lavan make an appearance?

Given the DWD basis, I'm guessing Grogar is going to be more of the "F.O.W.L. High Command" with some elements of 1990s Taurus Bulba. Though, admittedly, there COULD be some overlap there.

And it sounds like you're going to at least try to answer at least a couple of those questions. :-D

And, on another note, yeah, I can see where Queen Novo would be a good loose analogue to Neptunia. And perhaps, Garble as a loose analogue to Stegmutt (though slightly smarter and a few more "reformed villain" issues).

Another semi-recurring bit could be former Princesses Celestia and Luna setting up a support group for reformed villains (which they didn't exactly have time for when they were ruling Equestria, but given that they now have very little BUT free time), you know, given that Equestria really DOES have quite literally enough reformed villains to form their own support group, including Luna herself.

And, also, yeah, I could see where the new Mare-Do-Well could end up teaming up with the Student Six to try a rescue mission behind Thracian Pony lines after they find out what happened to Swift Foot.

Another possible new super-hero could be the Golden Knight (an Earth pony stallion in enchanted golden armor that increases his strength, speed, agility, durability, stamina, eyesight and hearing 49fold). His real name is Bold Trailblazer (an explorer turned super-hero after finding the aforementioned enchanted armor in one of his adventures and having to use it to save a nearby village from a monster attack). He also happens to be an ancestor of Hitch Trailblazer of the future Mane 5. He is reasonably tall with a fair bit of lean muscle and has a sky-blue coat with a bright red mane and tail. His Cutie Mark is a golden yellow map and machete. Has a bit of a rivalry with the new Mare-Do-Well, but there is enough mutual respect to keep the rivalry friendly. A loose analogue to Gizmoduck (though he and the Mare-Do-Well are on better terms than the actual Darkwing and Gizmoduck).

Another possible couple of episodes:

While helping Princess Silverstream and Gallus on a case in Mount Aris, the Mare-Do-Well finds out Queen Novo was foalnapped by the undersea tyrant, Squirk, with the trio teaming up to attempt a rescue.

A mad scientist figures out how to duplicate the strength and electrical powers of the Blue Rhino from one of the Mare-Do-Well's first cases and uses these new abilities to hold the city of Baltimare for ransom while keeping the police at bay.

While trying to get the help of Sunset Shimmer and Princess Twilight's human counterpart on a particularly frustrating case, there is a glitch in the Mirror Portal that causes the Mare-Do-Well to travel back two thousand years into the past, sharing an adventure with ancestors of the Council of Friendship against Grogar (which causes the ram to develop a massive grudge against the hero lasting to the present day).
