Crown Prince Garibald Talonuel of Wingbardy accompanies his father, King Gumberto, to the 12th birthday party of the Griffonian Emperor. Both of them dread the occasion, and Garibald feels something is definitely off.
As I promised, I've been working hard on both the sequel to my Midnight Sparkle series, as well as the odd oneshot to fill the gap before then. As a result, today, you get one such goodie.
I know this is overdue, and is kind of awkward to talk about since my second-to-last blog post was literally me talking about how I wanted to commit to regularly posting Secondo again and really hammer out the story properly.
Yeah, I'm sorry everyone. I had a few ideas for how to continue after the previous chapter but none of them I felt went anywhere exciting. In the end, due to a combination of work, lack of other ideas, and having other freetime activities to focus on, I simply decided I'd go on a bit of a hiatus for a while.
he year is 972 ALB, and the young, adolescent emperor of griffonkind, Grover V., is soon to enjoy his 12th birthday. His regency council has invited nobility and royalty from all across the empire to attend a great party to celebrate the occasion, perhaps to spark some life into the decaying husk of the empire.
The Kingdom of Wingbardy, all the way at the southern tip of the empire's reaches, is also invited to attend. Its King, Gumberto I., looks to attend the night's festivities with his young teenage son, Garibald. Yet he is well aware of the dislike many imperials share regarding him and Wingbardy, and that the slow decline of the empire is causing many voices within it to call for... rash measures to remove loose ends.
One fateful night in the capital of the empire, the beating heart of a force that conquered much of a continent. A night which the young Garibald would never forget.

I actually have been flooded with ideas for oneshots and short stories over the past week or so. So much so that it admittedly impeded my drive for Secondo just a bit as I weighed whether to push out a new chapter for it, or write a new story.
I ultimately decided to try and balance things out. One or two chapters for Secondo, then I can not feel guilty about taking time off to write a new, short little story that I want to get off my chest. I think I have like... 3 more stories in my mind and written down that I want to explore. No spoilers though! For now.

Other than that, I hope you'll enjoy this short, sad little story, which is once again set in the EaW universe. You should all be getting used to that by now, though. Hopefully. Probably. Maybe?
