Foresight climbed out next, leaving the whimpering pony alone in the crater. He looked around; the melee had not gotten better. Both sides were still deadlocked. Foresight looked around, before noticing Luna cutting down a changeling. He growled, rushing forwards. He raised his sidehoof, firing it at Luna. She yelped, collapsing against a tree.
Foresight panted, stepping over her. She winced, looking up. She snarled. “Is this the part where you give your monologue?”
Foresight blinked. “What’s a monologue?”
“Errr… never mind.”

Like, they don’t understand certain tropes, clichés, or stereotypes. Perfect example would be the whole knight in shining armor thing.
The females don’t know what that is because half the time, they are the knights in shining armor

It’s mostly just because of their mostly militaristic doctrine (and Chryssi wanting to keep them ignorant half of the time)
Whilst yes, they have stories, they don’t really know about tropes or how they work. They just assume that a. The authors are just lazy, or b. “Huh… guess they had the same idea.”
The only changelings who really know about this stuff are scholars or the Elites

I kinda assumed that ponies have animated media (cinemas) and live entertainment (mostly in the form of theatre and plays), unlike the changelings under Chrysalis’ rule (they didn’t have theatre until Thorax started ruling), so it would make kinda sense they’d be more familiar with commonly used plot elements.
