I think that while there will always be praise and criticism and it depends on how we respond to it, we should never bully, degrade, or discourage each other nor others for making fanfiction, fan-art, OCs, etc. Because everyone is different and we should embrace those differences and spread love and acceptance for the amount of effort, creativity, and care put into what we create, in my opinion.

Yes I agree wholeheartedly!
If someone writes a story, draws a piece of art or creates an OC, you are not required to like it. Try to leave a constructive criticism on why you didn't like it. If you can't think of a constructive criticism, just give a down vote, leave and never come back to it.
If someone gives the "I think your work is bad and you should feel bad" type of comment on any of the stories I've written, I leave the comment "Thank you for reading and commenting." Which is a way of telling them to go fuck themselves without provoking a flame war.
If someone leaves constructive criticism, I tend to engage in a conversation with them.

One is a pedophile and the other is a delusional mentally ill child in a man’s body who hates just about everyone and everything and obsessively writes hate fics all because MLP is about friendship. And he really has it out for Cadence solely because she’s happily married. And while people don’t talk about it anymore, there was a time where it was believed he cyberbullied a woman into suicide.
