Midnight Rising/C&C update: April showers may bring May flowers...

But of more interest is the emergence of 17-year cicadas in my area. Big, ugly, red-eyed insects that are the size of your thumb but basically harmless, as long as you can get past all the shed skins they leave behind on leaves and the everpresent and disconcertly loud background sound they produce as a mating call. Fortunately, the outbreak in my area seems pretty limited. There's a few around,

Midnight Rising update; Feathered Hearts C&C teaser...

Hey, folks. Here’s my weekly writing update. I’m tagging this as C&C since that’s what the teaser below is about, but the blog is about both it and Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising.

Prereader verdict on new Midnight Rising chapter is in...

And unfortunately, that verdict is unanimous:

Complaints were: too meta, hard to follow, does nothing to advance the plot, and potentially makes things worse while trying to fix them.

Still waiting on Midnight Rising prereads...

Which are particularly important this time, because the first preread I got back was negative. As it came from AJ_Aficionado, whose opinions I particularly value mostly because he’s more interested in the story than the sex, I tend to give what he said about it credence but still want to hear from everyone else before I start making changes to the new chapter.

Mind changed on removing the griffon arc from Midnight Rising + teaser

After receiving pleas from multiple readers to keep the Enter the Griffon chapters in place, I have decided to do so and go with my original plan, which was to simply offer new readers the chance

I'm back... tanned, rested and jetlagged · 3:11pm Jul 5th, 2022

Getting up for work this morning was a bit rough, even three days after my return from Vegas and the three-hour time difference from there to here.

For those who didn’t see my earlier blog
, the short of it is that I didn’t return a winner, but I had a blast both inside the city and out, taking no less than four trips into the desert to do everything from drive ATVs to kayak down a canyon to rock-and-roll with some full-auto firearms, including getting to fire an M-4 and M-249 like the Marines in Feathered Hearts use. In fact, I spent most of yesterday setting up an online photo album, since I don’t maintain any social media accounts:

So if you’re interested to know how my ten days over there went, and curious to know what your not-so-humble author actually looks like, the answers are there. Enjoy!

Aside from that, some announcements: I didn’t do any writing when I was over there—poker and other activities took precedence, after all—but now that I’m home, I’m starting up again. As promised previously, Harmonic Resonance has priority, and I intend to write the story to completion this time, turning out a new chapter of the three remaining every two weeks or so. After that is Midnight Rising, though as I find myself with increasing desires to return to Feathered Hearts, I may sneak a chapter of that in there somewhere as well.

So to make a long story short: I had my fun, and now it’s back to business, both personally and professionally. I’m starting the next chapter of Harmonic Resonance today, with the aim of completion the weekend after this one. Be looking for it, thanks again for indulging me as I took a two-week break from writing.
