A good story isn't measured by how long it is, but by how long it stays with you.

I was working on Transcendence a Minute Ago... · 3:56am Dec 12th, 2012

... When I noticed a stink bug flying around my room. He landed at the top of the far left wall and sat there for a while. I paid him little attention, as I was working on the Track and Flight Meet section of chapter 4 and was getting really into it (I think you'll all really like how much more realistic this scene(s) will be). A few minutes later, I looked up for a 2-second mental break, and lo and behold, there he is on the far wall, scuttling to the right.

I watched him make his way to the corner, curious to see what he would do next. Sure enough, he turned the corner (or up it, from his perspective) and kept going. I couldn't help but laugh: he was running laps around my room! Go, stink bug, go!

I shook my head, happy for the distraction, and continued with my writing. But again, not a minute later, I heard a loud click! and burst out laughing, knowing what had happened. I rolled to the foot of my bed and looked down. As expected, there he sat on the quarter-round of the wall. He looked cute, so I picked him up and put him on my bed beside me, to keep as a pet for my writing session.

He sat there for a minute, as if trying to trick me into thinking he didn't exist (what magnificent creatures, stink bugs). I smiled, then returned to writing, checking back every now and again to see what he was up to. He seemed to have taken a liking to my headphone cord: he crawled up its loops and tangles (both upside down and rightside up, I might add), then took off for the foot of the bed. I last saw him trekking over my coat on the floor.

That was about ten minutes ago. I wonder where he is now...

Don't do drugs, kids.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who cares about our magnificent invertebrate friends. If she were real, I get the feeling dear Fluttershy would hug you for so lovingly describing a stink bug.

I amused, you must write a story about this stink bug.

Yes. He must get an exploration cutie mark. On his carapace somewhere.

Daaaawwww

Remember that time you tried to kill that spider, but he just barely got away and crawled under your bed?

He remembers too.

Have fun trying to sleep tonight.

Stink bugs are oddly cute. They're so clumsy and awkward that I can't help but feel sorry for them, especially when they fall over on their backs. Or when they fly into walls.

Now we know why transcendence will never be finished.

Funny enough the banner for this page is actually a picture of scootaloo for me.

Now we know why transcendence will never be finished.

Sounds about right.

Hey. Just because I'm easily distracted doesn't mean Transcendence won't be finished... It only means that I bother replying to this comment instead of continuing my writing.
