I don't get that either. Absolutely should be pronounced with the G like from 'Graphics.'
That video is hilarious, though.

That line cracked me up.
Honestly, if the inventor of GIFs had meant for it to be pronounced like the peanut butter brand Jif, they should have put a 'J' in the acronym. Besides, I could imagine someone who'd never seen a .gif file name hear the J pronunciation and believe it was spelled .jif.
