First of all, Happy Pi Day!
Yes, I'm a nerd. Sue me. But, here I am a day late and many hours short with another story recommendation.
Some folks like their horror with veins and gore and blood dripping from fangs. Like The Devil you Know by my editor, Coyotethetrickster. Other people like their horror dark and foreboding, with a slow creeping tension that gradually rises until there is nothing left but sheer terror and those who stand in the face of ultimate evil.
For those of you who like the latter sort of tale, I recommend a story that I have read and reread at least a dozen times. WHITE by Crimnar is a story of academic adventure gone terribly, horribly wrong. The tension builds to a crescendo that can only end one way. And Does.
WHITE delivers on its promise in a way that is compels even as it horrifies. It is one of the best stories of its type in any genre, period, and the last three sentences are so, so powerful. I can only hope that when my time comes, I face it with half the bravery of second act's protagonist.
Read WHITE by Crimnar, if you dare.
ps. This month's chapter of How Twilight Learned is running late due to having to put in 6 day weeks at work. I hope to have it completed and off to my editor in a week when I revert back to a normal schedule. Your patience is massively appreciated.
Well that was an exciting read. I don't have something quite like it to recommend back... but perhaps something vaguely similar will do. Something it, in fact, reminded me of.
