I got ART! · 6:51pm January 26th
I know I haven't done a blog in awhile, but being a full-time single parent working a full-time job, and a part-time writer tends to really chew into the hours I have in a week. That said, I just had to carve out a little time to show off the remarkable gift I was given from Lady Lightning Strike by way of the amazingly talented artist Pridark.
This is my main OC, Penny Dreadful, shown harnessed to his beloved owner's wagon as the two of them head out for another adventure in the post apocalypse known as The Shattered Earth. Pridark did an absolutely amazing job on this challenging image from Penny's very dark chocolate brown coat colour through his multi-colour tail, right up to nailing the shading and details on his deceptively low-tech appearing tack. I haven't stopped smiling about this image for three days now.
If any of you ever have the chance to commission Pridark I can heartily endorse their work!

No. It's only incidentally MLP as Penny isn't directly a pony. He's a third generation equine uplift servitor made by the Sha'Halis Corporation and genegineered to look like the ancient My Little Pony show.
The Shattered Earth is set in the 2300s where high science and magic co-exist on an Earth only starting to recover from an apocalyptic event in the mid 21st century.
Penny and his owner, the enigmatic assassin and warrior only know as The Dream Walker, wander the weird wilderness between the scattered enclaves of humans and elves in search of fortune and glory

I saw it get posted on derpi and recognised you straight away. Had to go fangirl to LLS about it. And well. Yeah... I may have to get a similar setup with Salacious!
Also. I never realised your were a single Dad. My wife and I have separated last year after I came out 5 years ago, so I know your pain.
Just remember that you need to take time for yourself, it doesn't matter if you mow the lawn, wash the car or publish a chapter this week. You need to make sure you are stable too. Not only so you can be the best you can be for them. But also for yourself, dammit.

My separation was more of an explosive bolts type of parting as I mentioned here. The past few years have been infinitely rewarding as I rebuilt my life from literally nothing, but to live is to have challenges, and I definitely have an active and varied life.
From geek/nerd to RL rapier fighter to tech support to labourer to appearing on a dozen television episodes, my life has been full. And believe me, it helps with the story writing
