Smolder exhaled. Whether the smoke that followed came from biology or the dragon's refusal to contain the cigarette's erosion Ocellus couldn't tell. It blossomed, though, a smudge of grey against the bruised sky, and that was enough. But in that moment Ocellus was certain that whatever Smolder did would have been enough.

S'up. Been a while, hasn't it? But yeah, I've been writing some horsegriffonwords here and there. It's very rough, and I'm not sure if it'll go anywhere or see the light of day, but here's a small part of it that I liked and thought I'd share.

    Wrote Something Last Week

Not a story as such (or, at least, not anything approaching a complete story), but the foundation of something that could conceivably become a story with some time and effort.

    Saw the G5 Movie Today.

As is probably apparent by my lateness to the proceedings, I haven't really been motivated to catch it thus far, but was babysitting and my charge wanted to watch it.

    Time Flies

Smolder lay sprawled across the rug, limbs and claws entwined in dense yak hair. Her scales had become uneven shimmering planes, given their fleeting new life by the light of the fireplace. There, prancing tongues lived and died erratically, the only concession to the passing of time.

"Hey, you see the moon from there?"

What did you think about it? I thought it was breezy enough - breakneck pace and shallow characterisation kinda worked against it at times, but on the whole it was an okay watch. And I guess shallow characterisation works well for a fanfic writer.

Izzy is fab, though (which will come as no surprise to anyone who even half knows me).

Sounds like we pretty much agree. If you’re interested I posted my own comments on it.

yup, that's around what I felt about it, Izzy included :)

I thought it was cute! Definitely enough for me to want to check out the series when it comes out.

Izzy Moonbow is best pony. She's like Ponks and Rares and Derpy combined and I love it

Looks like I'm in good company then  I quite liked the locations, but it would have been nice to have had a chance to see some lore and customs connecting to it. It's tough for a film to afford the time for that kind of approach though. The format isn't the kindest.

Gasp. Traitor. To think we once sat at the same Ocellus table. :raritycry:

Yeah, this one gets it. :yay: Her repeated ta-daaa was adorable.

I thought it was pleasant enough, and I liked most of the characters, but there was nothing really compelling about it that would make me enthusiastic for a show or to write fanfic about it. However, that's not unusual for a movie that's trying to be relatively self-contained, and the series may well turn out to be better. The G4 movie felt about the same to me, and Tempest was the only character (well, maybe Caelano too) that I had much interest in seeing their continuing adventures. So to be fair, it's not doing anything different than G4 did in having a movie inspire me so far.

I enjoyed it a good deal -- enough so that I'm really quite sad that I never got the chance to see it at the cinema. Also, much as I like Izzy (and Sunny, who is probably marginally my favourite) Hitch was the surprise package for me. Much more interesting than I thought he'd be. Also those little Fluttershy-adjacent traits, which never hurts!

I love Izzy, too!!!! The Mane 5 only stand above each other in my rankings by millimeters!

I liked it, overall. :)
