An update, in the face of icy dooooom. · 3:02am Feb 2nd, 2022
WELP.
So Seattle's Angels has closed up shop, as has the Royal Canterlot Library. So it goes. Both groups have done a lot of great work in highlighting authors over the years (I, of course, have been featured on both, on account of being Best At Pony), and at least they got to say goodbye in a proper manner. I'm sure the fandom still has some life to it yet, however, and likely will for quite some time, but it's got a very 'end of an era' feel. All Good Things, and all that. Then again, people have been going 'THE FANDOM IS DEAD' ever since Twilight Sparkle got wings, so ... yeah.
Things have definitely slowed down, which is not helped by the fact that I haven't been writing as much as I'd like recently, pony or otherwise. As, I've complained about it before, but having a Real People Job(tm) again certainly puts a premium on brain-bandwith. Mmf.
And, speaking of work, it's looking like I'm gonna be part of the skeleton crew answering phones and such despite the impending snowpocalypse tomorrow, on account of me living not too far from the office. Normally, the short commute is wonderful, but in this case ... well, makes me wish I'd lied to my boss when he texted me. Sigh. Still, it shouldn't be TOO bad? I was on the schedule anyway, and with any luck I'll still get out early, but still.
Which is why I'm posting this blog entry! To complain, yes-- but also to consult the lot of you guys to at least post interesting links or conversation or whatever. Or heck, even if you don't have much to chat about, you can always go read & comment on one of my stories (as again, I'm best at pony), as red numbers by the notifications tab are always a nice surprise. They're proof somebody briefly acknowledged I exist! Or something.
Still, I'm pretty much as prepared as I can be for the inclement weather tomorrow, so that's nice? We'll see how things go.
*briefly acknowledges your existence to give you a little red number*
Also! What kind of links do you find interesting?
Hey, stay safe in the weather. Work devours everything in its path eventually, huh?
First off, stay safe. Second off, something interesting? Would you like a review of Worst Transformer Toy EVER?!
And please understand this. I owned that toy, bought it when it came out. And it really does SUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best of luck out there!

Well, vaguely educational but also conversational stuff like this guy is a good start. Or just nerdy news/analysis in general?
Fandoms are like people, they change and grow and sometimes move on, but I think as long as you are enjoying your time that's all that matters. And of course don't ruin it for others, that just always seems do petty.
So, Tumbleweed, will we find out if you are BEST AT WINDIGOS?
Best of luck!
If you are looking for something interesting and lengthy to read, I recommend this blog: https://acoup.blog/tag/lord-of-the-rings/ Guy is a history professor who writes about the military history of ancient real world cultures as well as fictional stories (I linked to his Lord of the Rings collection). A fine way to spend a day.
Take luck!
Also, some random power metal:
