[Announcement]:My plans for 2022 part 2-(A Changeling's Soul Reflection cancelled)

Like I said before I'm making a series of blogposts detailing my future plans for 2022. Consider this a series of New Year's resolution announcements. Please read and maybe leave a comment? Please?

So let us start by talking about my most ancient fanfic "A Changeling's Soul Reflection" (don't ask why I capitalized EVERY word). This kinda makes me sad but I'll be honest I think it's for the best.

But why?
The fanfic itself was as I said ancient and the idea and formatting of it was ancient. It doesn't help that I haven't been vibing with the idea a lot and the fact that it was so chock-full of parallels and references to anime or games. What I mean is that the fanfic itself had too many similarities with scenes from those anime/games. It was so apparent tbh that I had to delete a single comment that possibly spoiled the rest of the fic by saying what the reference was.

I was an amateur writer and tbh I learned that I wanted to write something that was much more natural much more original. I still use inspiration from the same sources but at least I'm not doing what used to be an adaptation of some other storyline or a story littered with scenes from other sources.

Can you not end it?
The story was going to be too long with at least 5-6 major arcs each of which would be corresponding to a character pair in the story. The story is too long and it would take way too much time. I don't have it and it doesn't sound enjoyable.

So you had it planned? What was going to be the ending?
Like I said I planned like 6 or more arcs that included a character from the "Changeling 6" and their opponents/reflections. If you don't mind spoilers read below.

So there was going to be a villain who was the ancient Queen Metis who basically teleported her egg to the future 4000 years and because her last word was chrysalis (as in the egg) the name was imparted to her. There would be no real name to Chrysalis. Chrysalis would become Queen because royal egg. There would be elements of harmony but for changelings called Truth, Hope, Honor e.t.c (I honestly cba to remember all of them) and their respective opposites being created by this villain who would end up revealing to be Chrysalis mother after the evil that struck the changelings awakened and surfaced to Equestria. There would be arcs going all over beyond Equestria. There would be burned forests, there was even a scene that was inspired by the song "Ten thousand fists" by the band Disturbed.

So what now?
Honestly so many stuff were callbacks and just like most of my tastes they changed. I need what I do right now to be something independent from references and media so that it doesn't die along with my changes.

There's something to be learned from here. It's not that it's bad to have media you like affect your writing process. If you're to write something short sure but commiting to it is not wise imho.

Nowadays I focus moreso on themeing and the messages/morals I'd like to see. I use life-lessons and conclusions I've come to myself.

So... yeah.
