Hearth's Warming Thoughts 2021 · 1:51am Dec 23rd, 2021
I know a lot of you have friends and family to be with this holiday. I also know a lot of you are struggling this holiday with (sometimes former) friends and family who refuse to accept you for who you are. I know I am. Some of you are alone in a room, some of you are alone in a crowd. And some of you have people who accept you.
As many of you know, most of my family has abandoned me. In fact, most of them never got to meet Penny. And during this time of year where the idea of "family traditions" is rammed down our throats... it hurts.
No matter where you are, I want you to know that you aren't alone. I know it's not the same when you're in an empty apartment. I know pixels on a screen won't save you from that loneliness. But as much of my spirit that I can give is going out to each of you.
This place has been a lot of things to a lot of people over the years. Most of you have seen me go through so many different phases and struggles. You've seen me self-destruct, publish grand epics, go silent for months at a time, come up with Crazy Idea after Crazy Idea, celebrate people's accomplishments, embarrass the hell out of others, and shove my foot in my mouth so often that I'm thinking of marketing my own brand of shoe seasoning.
I have no idea what's coming, except knowing for sure there's gonna be a lot of change for me.
But I know who I'm grateful for: every one of you.
May you have a gentle holiday and a happy Hearth's Warming. Remember, most of us know that our hearts rest in Equestria, that silly land of cartoon pastel ponies that stole our imaginations and dreams.
May your thoughts dwell there in the next few days, even only for a little while.
Found families are better anyway; you get to pick them. Happy holidays to you and yours.
