Familiar: Your robotic best friend, made just for you. She will love you, care for you, and live every moment of her life devoted to you. But when all that she lives for is suddenly gone, one Familiar must find a reason to go on.
Haze is a story that is filled with big ideas: Cloud empires. Flying earth ponies. Ancient religions. Superpower-inducing fungi. Unfortunately, much like the mushroom-munching ponies in this story, this story might be biting off more than it can handle…
"Yeah, Hat, only took ya a few months to finish ONE chapter..." I know, I know, but I got busy and then wanted to make sure it turned out right. Enjoy the final chapter, folks!
...And it has OctaScratch! Sorry it took a while, but I had to wait until New Year's when the Quills and Sofas Fic Exchange ended. Anyway, it's some very cute shipping between Octavia Melody and Vinyl Scratch, and I sure hope y'all like it.
One thing that saddens me more than almost anything else is to disappoint my readers, but I'm afraid I've got no choice: there will not be a new chapter of "Reaping Rainbow: A Very Grim Hearth's Warming" this Christmas. Keep reading for more details and some positives...
I have been having a busy and stressful week*, which is not over yet, but-slash-so I look forward to getting to this eventually. :)
(Also, I'm curious to find out whether those are rules for a robot with crippling depression to follow for caring or rules for someone caring for a robot with crippling depression to follow.)
*Mostly due to my company ordering a multi-thousand-dollar piece of equipment from overseas and finding, surprise, the seller got the customs paperwork wrong, so now we're having to scramble to get things sorted out on a week that, oh yes, ends in a holiday when we can expect people to be out of offices. And this was in a week where I was planning to do less company work, because there's also been some urgent work to do at the house outdoors, partly in a race against the weather.
5620066 Thanks. We think the paperwork is done now, though we apparently didn't get it in in time for them to process it before the holiday weekend. We've still got part of next week before the deadline, though, and hopefully there'll be good news on this then. And the outdoor work seems to have gone well, and be pretty much done, with just some debris left awaiting garbage pickup.
Thanks, and the same to you. :)
(...Though today I don't have time to get to any FIMFiction story updates or blog posts... and when logging in briefly to take care of a thing, which I then extended to include replying here, found tens of thousands of more words of the former and thirty-five unread feed items -- the nature of which is, as usual, a mystery which must be investigated all at once or not at all. Hopefully most of them are just short "Happy Holidays!" messages or something, or it might take me ages even get to the story updates. Probably going to be into next week clearing the backlog, unless everything else goes quite smoothly. Eh; oh well. I do expect to enjoy the story updates (Still including yours of course! At least that one's very near the front of the queue. :)), and potentially some of the feed items -- just a lot there. Well, much worse problems to have -- see, for example, the whole recent customs paperwork thing. :D)
(And on the plus side, part of the reason I have so little time today is that I slept in -- which, given some level of sleep deprivation is my normal operating state, was nice. :))
good chapter

Oof, that's rough. I hope you get it sorted. And, in the meantime, have a Merry Christmas and/or holiday season regardless. 🎄

Well, glad you got your issue taken care of and that you finally got some sleep for a change! Merry Christmas, buddy!

Thanks, thanks, and thanks -- and Merry Christmas to you again, too. :)
