I found a grimdark gorefic that was surprisingly well written. There's a lot of gore though and I'm thoroughly terrified. But it is amazing in its description.

Gotcha. The biggest worry is that when you tell her how you feel, unless she feels the same way, she might start to think all the years of friendship were fake. And she would be right to have this fear, since the majority of guys fake friendships with girls they want something more with.
The main things are 1) Don't be creepy 2) If she rejects you, be cool and understanding about it. Make it clear that if she rejects you, it won't affect the friendship. But obviously, how you actually act will outweigh what you say. If you say rejection won't affect you but start getting weird after it, she'll be worried.
Aside from what Deep said, which I fully agree with. I’m sure you don’t present as feminine yet, so I’d make sure she’s into girls as well, because if she isn’t, she might be very confused in the future.

I didn't realize they were trans when I posted my comment. Regardless, I still maintain they should tell the girl how they feel. As long as they're not creepy about it, everything will be fine.
