Happy Birthday, Peter New · 4:10pm Oct 30th, 2021

Today is Peter New's birthday. He is the talented man who provided the voice of Big Macintosh across the show's nine seasons. If there's any character who benefitted from the mane six becoming less focused on in later seasons, it was definitely Big Macintosh who went from being just an "Eeyup" and "Eenope" character to being fully fleshed out. I know some weren't too happy with his trilogy of episodes focused on Sugar Belle in Seasons 7-9, but I think for the most part they were a good showcase for him.

Peter New also voiced a variety of other characters in the show, including Goldie Delicious, Doctor Whooves, and numerous background or one-off characters. And if Pony Life is anything to go on, he may have been who they were going to have be the voice of Discord before they ultimately decided to get John De Lancie instead. Of course, Peter has had plenty of roles outside of FiM, but he is probably among the Vancouver VAs who became better known thanks to his work on the show.

Happy birthday, Peter. I wish you nothing but the best for whatever the future may bring you.
