A Cult's Extremism · 9:17pm Apr 22nd, 2021
For years, I stayed away. For years, I was absent. And now, has the brony fandom come to this?
Is there truth to the Denver Gazette in any of this? Did this once proud cult following devolve into white nationalism and far-right extremism, one of the greatest threats to America of all time?
"Brony online culture has displayed elements of far-right and white nationalist extremism," an internal memo from Facebook read, the Wall Street Journal reported.
As some of you know, I always believed the bronies were bad news back when it was told that the Season 3 finale would be Twilight Sparkle's coronation, making her a princess of Equestria. Things kept going downhill such as very poor handling of episodes and sending death threats to Amy Keating Rogers, whom at the time was writing for the show. And what was Rogers' so-called crime? Pinkie Pie's stranger attitude making Fluttershy cry. Ridiculous to a T.
This may be a report of a single brony going on a shooting spree, but... THIS is what drove him to murder?!
There was a post timestamped less than an hour before the shooting that read, "I hope that I can be with Applejack in the afterlife, my life has no meaning without her," and it featured an image of the cartoon pony Applejack.
I mean, isn't that like saying a gamer could go out there and do something similar if, say, Crash Bandicoot does not become a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Now, whether any of you still think I demonize bronies or not, regardless of what you think of me, this blog post, or your attitude towards me, it's not going to erase this shooting incident, nor will it erase that a brony did it. What's done is done and I've played no part in it.
He is using MLP as an excuse for his actions and escapism, and to be fair I could see where he is coming from but he was going to be convicted anyway so he might as well just try to justify his actions. He was just making an excuse so it's not worth thinking about, he knew what he was doing and decided to blame the fandom for "Influencing" him.
