One morning in Equestria, the sun fails to rise and both the sun and moon are not seen in the sky. Discord is suspected to be the guilty party, but of course only Fluttershy believes he is innocent. They soon go to Canterlot, where Princess Luna reveals that Discord is in fact innocent and that Princess Celestia has taken on a terminal illness. Discord and Luna rally the Mane 6 and Spike to embark on an epic adventure to save the Princess of the Sun and find the real perpetrator behind the bizarre skies.

A coup d'état threatens the royal rule of Equestria and its four princesses are now in grave danger. Leading this coup is a ruthless and beastly stallion named Martinet and the ponies rallied to his cause form his army known as the Bronies. With Twilight Sparkle having been crowned as Equestria's youngest princess, Martinet vows to crush the royal reign, believing that she will one day suppress his people from the Hollow Shades. A frightened Twilight believes she has no choice but to recruit royal guards from all over Equestria and fight back to save the throne from Martinet's iron hoof. Meanwhile in Ponyville, the Cutie Mark Crusaders prepare to welcome a new filly into their society as the fifth crusader, but they find themselves in a war of their own when Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon somehow rally a group of kids to their cause to suppress all ponies without cutie marks and ensure that they never earn them.

NOTE: The concept of this story is loosely based on the fan base war over Princess Twilight Sparkle. So General Martinet basically represents the angry brony fandom while Princess Celestia represents Hasbro that supposedly "suppresses" bronies using their C&D order against "Fighting is Magic" as an example. The use of the term "bronies" in this story is meant to poke fun at any number of bronies who spread the hate around, disliked Princess Twilight, erupted into war, and/or didn't get over Princess Twilight. Because seriously, they acted so immature and everyone knows it. Obviously, Black Kyurem pokes fun at these bronies because they haven't left the fandom yet.

The Cutie Mark Crusaders are framed for a terrible accident, leading to them getting chased out of Ponyville and subsequently exiled. Only Fluttershy believes that the Cutie Mark Crusaders are innocent and travels with them to keep them safe. While out of Ponyville, the Cutie Mark Crusaders hear of a chance to acquire special kinds of cutie marks known as 'legendary marks' and set out to Applewood to start their new lives. Their debut film, Mares in Black, becomes a box office smash success, and that's when their older sisters and Rainbow Dash find out what happened to the Cutie Mark Crusaders, who refuse to return to Ponyville. To make matters worse, Fluttershy has disappeared! Will Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow ever be able to win back their little sisters again?

Twilight Sparkle, now princess of Ponyville, decides to host along with the Mayor a special day in Ponyville to honor all the parents in Ponyville. There's just one problem - Applejack's parents are dead, making her currently the only pony of the Mane 6 without parents. Will Twilight still be able to go through with her plans for making a special day? Or will she just be heartbroken and consumed by guilt and grief for her friend?

Princess Celestia somehow finds out about the mysterious Mare Do Well and discovers her secret identity, leaving her furious. As a result, she revokes holding back an old punishment she had for Twilight Sparkle and places the blame on Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie as well. While serving their time doing community service for the stuck-up sophisticated ponies of Canterlot, their track records are all smashed to pieces and Ponyville steadily falls into disarray. As Rainbow Dash mourns over being lonely, she remembers a promise she made to a friend - to become like a big sister somepony always wanted. Having someone to confide in makes all the difference.

Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon poke fun at Apple Bloom simply because she does not have her cutie mark. When an arts and crafts fair is preparing to set up in Ponyville, Applejack encourages her little sister to at least participate, but she soon succumbs to her own self-depression. Discouraged, confused, and upset from all the building up of verbal abuse, Apple Bloom one day disappears from Ponyville without a trace and it isn't long before Applejack is driven into mental insanity worrying about her. Silver Spoon betrays Diamond Tiara by confessing to Applejack the most likely cause of Apple Bloom's disappearance and quite possibly her true reason for wanting her cutie mark. And once Princess Celestia learns of Apple Bloom's problem, she decides to pay a visit to Ponyville herself to announce a very important lesson about bullying. Will Diamond Tiara finally realize the error of her ways? Or has her heart been permanently hardened by her own twisted misdeeds?

Taking place a week after the royal wedding of Canterlot, Twilight has a nightmare which leads her to believe that the Changeling threat is still at large and anyone around her could be in disguise. Her personal worries get even worse when she gets haunted by a scarring incident caused by her brother and her friends the night before the wedding and believes that no one can help her. But when Twilight breaks down and suffers from emotional trauma, will her friends be able to realize the importance and value of true friendship through their foolish mistakes? Or have they not learned a thing at all this whole time?
