Moving into the realm of Original Content, it suddenly seemed like a good idea to not make my symbol be the very much copyrighted infinite-sided die from Gravity Falls, which has been with me and my icons for many, many years. However I didn't want to abandon the association with infinity entirely, and I really do like changing my icon every now and then to showcase my latest obsession, and I also wanted a symbol that could be used for story-covers rather easily...
And so, in the end, after quite a bit of work and mathematics, we ended up with this:
Which, by default, has this shape inlaid into it:
Which is an infinity symbol molded by two diamonds with the dimensions on playing cards (Blackjack, anyone?). The outer symbols are also proportioned by perfect geometry and symmetry, relying on circular arcs and intersections with an open eye at the bottom and a closed eye at the top. But, above all else, the center is the window—through which anything can be seen. I can put covers for books in there, characters for profiles, anything. It is the window to other worlds. And, when doctored up in photoshop properly, it ends up looking something like this:
Which, as a bonus, can have the outside colored whatever I want. Later, when I have money and the world isn't in the midst of panic, I'll probably have an artist add some more unique texturing to it or something.

Anyway, onto actual updates. There's not much, I'm afraid, college is college. I am still working on OC but my original plan to launch at the start of the summer is looking overly idealistic, and I'm trying not to set myself too many harsh deadlines right now since, well, I have enough of those thrust upon me already. Rest assured, OC is being made, and the content will come to you.
That said as a bit of de-stress writing I have been exploring what would happen if Starfleet (Star Trek) found the Pokemon world. It's a very disorganized and unedited mess of various (potentially contradictory) "reports" by Dr. Bashir on the relative sapience of various Pokemon. Also, do check out my currently updating story, Worlds Apart; all completely written and coming out at a snail's pace because... I dunno that's how the chapters ended up. I do hope you guys are enjoying that.

There's always been panic-worthy things happening somewhere or other. You're basically asking for people to stop watching the news, and I agree with you in principle but it's never going to happen.

The funny thing about your icon is that it featured Pinkie while I was reading one of the earlier arcs of SotS.
I thought the payoff for the arc was that Pinkie was essentially use the power of multiple divine beings to hijack the author, with the change in icon being the result.
Didn't turn out that way though.
And it didn't even come out looking like the Cool S!
For real though, it's a nice symbol, very fancy. Though, I do enjoy the irony of the first image being used in this avatar to seperate yourself from the infinity sided die... Having said die in it. Old branding dies hard, I suppose.

It was talked about on the server and agreed that, in honor of the die, it should feature in the first new icon. It shall be missed, but it is currently being honored.

Fittingly enough, that icon reminds me of the cover of the Dark Prognosticus
