Question of the Week#2 · 3:21am Mar 31st, 2021
Well, another week another question.
This weeks question is something that I have been trying to find the answer to, but have been having some difficulty solving. The question being: Are there any festivals/celebrations in Hawaii that are similar to Halloween?
Now to clarify, I'm not asking if Hawaiians celebrate Halloween, because apparently they do and they have some really cool stuff there. What I am asking is if there are any festivals in Hawaiian culture that could be linked to some of the same themes of Halloween, kind of like how there is Day of the Dead down in Mexico?
I suppose another question to ask is, is there something unique that Hawaiians do during Halloween that those of us on the mainland don't do here (or don't do here that often)?
Why these questions you might ask? Is this a sign that Robipony wants to do a Monster Mare story back in Haywaii during a Nightmare Night festival? Maybe... or maybe I'm just curious.
Who knows?
Who cares?
...
Anyway, thank you all for reading this message, I hope you all have a good day.
All I really know about Hawaii I learned from Lilo and Stitch so not much help from here.
I was born in Hawaii on the island of Oahu (currently living in orlando😞) most holidays are celebrated their due to how diverse the population is but any "island only" holidays are based on the Events from the native leaders and such.
5486715 That's really cool. I've always wanted to go to Hawaii.
So do you know if they are any unique traditions revolving around costumes or the dead? When Halloween is celebrated in Hawaii, is there any unique customs/traditions done there that aren't usually done over here?
I was early teen when I moved to the mainland and honestly I don't recall any big difference when it came to costumes for this holiday.
The Japanese holiday obon is observed which is remembering/ honoring the dead
That's about what I recall, sorry
