Future stories update & the return of "Director's Cut"s

It's been about a month since I submitted 'One of Them' and I had planned on having my next story out by now; my last blog even had a vote on what would be the next two stories. But as to why they are awol?

Delay on Starlight Glimmer story & future story voting time (again)

I'll cut to the chase: I was planning to release a special Starlight story for this year's Starlight Glimmer Day (today) which I had mentioned in some past blogs. It had been partly written for weeks now, and I was going to resume and finish it in time for Glim Glam's day.

Long time coming, but here's a sneak peek at the next story + hints for the next story!

I meant to have my next story, "A Hearts and Hooves Day Mystery" out 2 if not 3 weeks ago but I was hit with a writing motivation problem (in which I had very little:rainbowlaugh:) so I had to wait until it passed. Thankfully, it has, and my next one-shot story is planned to be out on either Friday or the weekend.

Once again, vote for the next story

I'm trying to decide what my next story will be, but since I have several options and can't make up my mind (again), I'm letting you choose. Just like the last blog where I held a vote, there will be 3 options; one of which was one of the choices in the last voting.

    Here are the choices!

Final chapter of "Pinkie & Eric's Bonding Jungle Trip" is out!

As the title of this blog says, the 3rd and last chapter of "Pinkie & Eric's Bonding Jungle Trip" is now out! At just over 10,400 words, this story is by far the longest story I've written that only had 2 characters in it unless you count the bears from chapter 2 with the second-longest story (An Alicorn, a Human, and a Teacup) only having 2,262 words. If I didn't write a 4th

Director's cut: Rarity Gives "The Talk" · 9:44pm Mar 15th, 2021

Ah, the amusing trope of Twilight Sparkle not knowing where foals come from. It was only a matter of time before I finally had fun with it. To me, Rarity seems to act a little like a big sister to Spike from time to time (I.e. calling him "Spiky-wikey" or doting on him) so that gave me the idea to put her in the role she had in this story.

Now, while I do think the idea of Twilight being clueless about how foals are born is funny and it always gives me laughs, I also personally think it's a little bit too unrealistic, especially without the story with it having a "Random" tag. She loves to read too much to had not learned it eventually, unless she had an actual reason to never learn about pony reproduction. This is partly why this story took place in the early seasons of the show where I felt this would be the most plausible, even with her "innocence" being justified.

Not to mention, up until this story, all my stories with Twilight had her as an alicorn, so I had been wanting to write at least one story with Twi as a unicorn. This did have a little downside, which I'll get to in a bit.

A bonus of Celestia being the one to tell Twilight that foals come from eggs, in addition to explaining why Twilight didn't know the truth, also made it easier to bring Celestia into the story proper. If Celestia wasn't behind it, Twilight, Rarity, and Spike wouldn't have gone to her the way they did in the story, so I would have had to come up with another way to get Sunbutt in the story.

Now for the noteworthy cuts & edits Rarity Gives"The Talk" had.

This story didn't really have any cuts worth mentioning, but it did have some additions that I added during editing. The first one was how Twilight almost let it slip (twice) that she wanted to have a boyfriend. For both Twilight's and Flas--er her future boyfriend/girlfriend's sakes, it's a [ivery good thing she learned the truth about where foals come from!:rainbowlaugh:

The second add-on to Luna commenting that Twilight's parents wouldn't have liked Twilight being told that foals came from eggs. They really wouldn't have the right to get that mad at Celestia since they didn't tell Twi the truth themselves, but Celestia's reaction to how they might react was just too good.

One more notable edit, kinda, was that Rarity originally didn't return her gem-hunting gear before she, Twilight, and Spike went to Canterlot. This didn't change how the story went though; I just forgot she still had on her helmet until I caught & fixed it during editing.

Lastly, the downside of Twilight being a unicorn in this story. It has nothing to do with the fact itself, but rather the fact that I couldn't add a bonus scene with Starlight Glimmer telling Trixie about how Twilight thought foals came from eggs. If I did, Trixie would have died laughing.

Seriously – Trixie would have laughed so hard and so long, her heart would have stopped, forcing Starlight to apply CPR (breaking a couple of Trixie's ribs in the process) to revive her. Trixie would have gone on to laugh more for a while; she thought that a full-grown mare thinking foals came from eggs was so funny, she just didn't give a damn about the pain from her ribs and kept on laughing! The story probably would have gotten the "Random" tag if this did happen.

But what about sex ed?

I know Twilight is Celestia personal student, but she still goes to school, so wouldn't she learn about biology, the reproduction system, and sex ed in school?

How the heck is it possible for her to learn these things from her other teachers?

That's another reason why I think it's on the unrealistic side for Twilight to had never learned it, at least not without some kind of intervention.

Though, maybe Celestia's school (or Equestrian schools in general) doesn't have sex-ed classes like ours do, which could allow Twilight to not learn about reproduction if nopony told her on their own. Not likely I don't think, but plausible enough for a story like mine, given a good enough reason.
