Fimfic is the Only Website I'm On Now · 5:32am Mar 8th, 2021
As in the only website where I have an active account and post stuff.
Yeah, I'll still go on to other sites to gather knowledge (whether they be niche forums, videos, articles, etc). But this is now the only site where I have an active account and actually post.
Which isn't really surprising. I've never been an online person, and never even had a Insta or Twitter (or a Facebook account past age 18). I was on certain other forums for my other hobbies, but even that became too irritating for me. I've gotten to the point where I don't even consider online interaction real anymore. Talking online feels akin to alone time versus how fun real-life interaction is by comparison.
I don't want to bore you with the issues I have with online communities, because there are MANY, MANY issues.
Instead, I'll offer this: Aren't the functions of most websites better done by the real world? With *one* caveat that I'll offer below.
Facebook- Instead of "following" old friends, why not actually meet them regularly? And if you don't want to meet them again, why are you following them?
Instagram- Instead of taking endless pics of your life, how about you 100% immerse yourself in the present moment?
Twitter- Instead of frying your brain with the collective negativity of the world, how about you don't do that and focus on yourself?
Tinder/online dating- Instead of mass swiping, how about meeting new people via social circle and/or visiting new locations to get to know new people using your actual, real-life personality? Or is that too scary
Lifting/MMA/other sports sites- How about making friends at your gym? Or actually taking up the sport at a local level instead of just talking about it online with other people who never actually play it?
Youtube- Nope, this one is actually solid haha.
Also, the caveat. Making money online is booming. Especially since COVID and the shutdowns destroyed so many physical stores. I see zero reason not to use the internet financially. But when it comes to online communities, real life >>>>>>>>> any online interaction.
....
Same.

Were you regularly on other sites too, though?

Wattpad also, but FimFic is my main.
Dang, I barely see anyone on here anymore. Iām lucky to get more than 5 blogs, chapter updates, or group additions a week.

Yeah, this site is practically dead compared to its peak around 2011 - 2014. The trans Trixie blog implosion at least brought some life back to this site

Haha. You're skilled with software, though, right? This should be good news for you.
The future really does seem to be making money online (even as a second income stream) while living offline. Last year was a big eye opener for many. Outside of healthcare, people who made money in physical locations mostly suffered, while people who made it online had their best year ever. Unfortunately, it seems most people age 30 and younger live mostly online but have work that will be utterly demolished by AI and automation in the next few decades haha.

I'm still relatively new to programming. :V

At least you find it fun haha. I made a functioning website last summer for a pharmacy. It actually wasn't difficult at all, but it was so boring that I have PTSD everytime I see the words "Elementor" and "WordPress" lol.
As you can probably tell by my art, I am just not a visually skilled person at all. Which is why I'll probably just pay some tech kid in India like $5 to make any future websites

I actually thought you'd respond with something longer since the online world and tech seems to be your interest.
*frowns*
SAME! I HAVE a Facebook, but that's because my friends and family wouldn't shut up about getting one when I was young. I played games on it for a little while... but now I get on it once every 2 or 3 years... not kidding.
I don't have Facebook anymore
