Snow Heart

Snow Heart had been searching for her little sister Frost Heart for as long as she could remember. It felt hopeless. She traveled from city to city, even to the outskirts of the wilderness, aching just to say she was sorry. That she never meant to ignore her. She found herself at a bar. It was night. She was alone. She was well aware most looked at her, and saw her as nothing more than "The Princess of Kindness." She was no Princess. How could she not see her sister's suffering? Had she really been blind to it? Frost's letter about leaving still stung, as she asked the bartender for a drink. There as a pony beside her. She felt the tears wanting to fall, but she remained composed. She wasn't going to give up, she was going to find her sister. Maybe this stranger next to her might even know her. Perhaps it was a stretch, but she had to take the chance.
"Hello there, who are you?"

Aurora

“Oh, hello! I’m Aurora Dawn. Who might you be?”

Snow Heart

"I'm Snow Heart..." she mustered as she looked the pony up and down. Seemed like just another pony, but they didn't react at all to her being a Princess. Good start. She stared at the pony, realizing that might be rude, and looked down. "Sorry. I don't know why. But you remind me of some pony I knew. I must be crazy. Um...what got you into mlp?" she asked breaking fourth wall slightly.

Aurora

Aurora chuckled softly, sipping her drink. “My oldest online-friend pestered me about it for a while back right after the first season. Eventually I gave it a shot and fell in love.” She swirled her drink forlornly. “I’ve been away for a while. I’ve heard I looked familiar for a bit recently.”

Snow Heart

"Oh I see. Sorry. It's just..." Snow paused. She couldn't simply lay her heart out to a pony she just met, but desperation clung to her. She missed her sister. "Um...you haven't happened to seen or know anything about a Pegasus with white fur, blue mane and tail with a crystal heart with three gems hanging down from it do you? Her name is Frost Heart. She's my sister. I...have been trying to find her for a long time." Snow Heart had no clue her sister was involved in a certain factory or that she had killed fellow ponies under distress and heartache.

Aurora

Aurora froze. A memory- no, a shadow of a memory- crossed her mind. It was more of a feeling than a memory. “I think... I may have. But I could be wrong. I was young back then....” she trailed off.

Snow Heart

Snow Heart sighed heavily. "It's okay. I can't expect a miracle. She's been missing for years. It's all my fault. But..." she looked to Aurora. "This is no time to wallow in self pity. Tell me hun, what inspires you to write?"

Aurora

Aurora perked up then, happy to leave hard times behind. “Music! It’s always music. When I have the story idea, it’s when I am listening to music. When I am writing, I put on the genre to match the mood of the scene I’m writing. When I’m planning I do the same.” She giggled, dancing in her chair to a tune in her head. “When I hear music, I always imagine a story that goes along to it, like a movie. Then I do my best to write what I see.”

Snow Heart

"Ah I see, fascinating. I honestly don't know what inspires me. Making making others happy, or empowering them through my words." Snow Heart spoke as she didn't think too hard on that for quite some time, until her recent emotional trauma. She didn't want to talk about it. "What advice might you give to some pony new just starting writing for the first time?"

Aurora

“I’m not sure, really.” She set her empty glass down and signaled for another, and one for the alicorn next to her. “Probably that they should just write lots and write often. I’m not really good at my own advice... I’d like to get better at it myself.” She paused, thinking as her drink came. “There’s also the saying from that horror writer, King. Write drunk, edit sober. Don’t pay attention to the weirdness of what you written or if it makes perfect sense or has all the right words when you’re first writing. Just get it out first. Come back and clean it up later.”

Snow Heart

Snow Heart chugged down her first drink, so was grateful when Aurora ordered her another. She often thought to herself that even the most experienced writers were always learning, always evolving. Truly, practice was perfect. She knew it well. She remembered when she had first got her wings, Frost had been there every step of the way. Having a pegusus for a sister, made the transition easier, even if every day she had these wings, it was a constant reminder, she had failed in her duties as a sister to Frost. It was no wonder she ran off. Snow Heart felt the first tear drop to the counter.
"Um...what do you do for fun? Any hobbies you enjoy besides writing?"

Aurora

"Mmhmm!" She nodded excitedly. "I play Magic: The Gathering a lot. Usually the Commander format, that's my favorite. It's usually me and my roommate or at our local game store for their Friday night events." Her eyes went wide, and she continued. "Oh! But we're being safe with everything going on. Only one pair of players to a table, disinfecting after each game, no touching each other's cards."

Aurora

"Asides from that..." She thought for a moment. "I could say video games but I hardly play these days. I've been trying to read more often, too, and started a couple crafts... I've sorta been aimless for a bit. I'm happy to have writing again."

Snow Heart

"Oh I used to play card games with my..." she stopped herself to take a good swig. She was going to get drunk at this rate, but didn't care. "I used to play Yugioh with my little sister. I used to be very competitive about it, but I sold most of my cards, only really have a few decks, I wanted to keep for memories. Even her deck. It doesn't make the pain go away, but it's like a piece of her is always with me." Snow Heart stated. As she sat next to this pony. She realized, she knew almost nothing about them.
"Tell me is there anything about you, you'd like to tell me?" she asked, clearly looking deep into the pony's eyes, and seeing beyond there to the writer behind the pony.

Aurora

Aurora was quiet. She stared again at the melting ice in her glass. "Well..." she rubbed her neck, embarrassed. "There's really not much that stands out about me. I'm kinda new age religious I guess, neopagan I think they call it. But nothing much more than saying a little prayer when I see a full moon. Uh. I work hard, too, I really pride myself on work ethic. Honestly? Honestly I've been trying to figure out who I am for a very long time, and I think some things are just starting to come into place." She sipped gently. "At what age or point in someone's life are they supposed to know who they are?" The question was directionless, muttered softly.

Snow Heart

"Truly, I feel we are always learning. I know from working with the elderly, that you never can know what you might learn. You might even learn to appriciate your own self worth. And start believing again." Snow Heart admitted, with a slight blush. He might not know it, but her writer had gone through a lot too, and the fact she could make him smile, made her day all the better*
"Um...before this gets awkward and you have to take me somewhere safe and warm for the night because I got drunk off my flank. Is there anything you'd like to ask me?"

Aurora

Aurora blinked, and looked up with a smile. "Oh, yeah! How'd you find yourself here, in the first place?" The question was just as much at the bat-alicorn as it was to her writer. "What brought you here?"

Snow Heart

"To ponies or to Fimfiction?" she asked to clarify the question.

"Actually, I'll just answer both. The first one is easy, most know it, I love Rainbow Dash, I used to be a pony hater. Like thinking it was for little girls and a total waste of time. (please don't hate me.) but Rainbow Dash always stood out to me, her design, her color palette, everything about her said "cool" and I was curious, so one day I sat down and watched an episode, and it just happened to be an RD episode where she got her pet. Been hooked ever since."

Aurora

"Oh yeah, the tortoise!"

Snow Heart

"Now as for the second question how I found Fimfiction. In 2017, a lot of things happened to me. I divorced my ex-husband, we lost our home, I moved back in with my dad. I was lonely. I just wanted someone to talk too, some place I could write, and find a community to start forging something with. A community of writers, just like a real writer's group. I stumbled upon Fimfiction, and made an account. I didn't know what I should write, but I saw all the clop stories and was like this must be what ponies want to see, so that's how I got my start." she blushed furiously. "I've since removed that story out of shame."

Aurora

"Now I know," Aurora said cheerfully, "That we can be ashamed of what we write for our content. But if it's liked, I think we should learn to celebrate it instead." She looked around her and then whispered to Snow Heart. "Unless you're looking to run in politics, maybe." She laughed. "But really, if you're proud of the work you've done, the content of that work shouldn't hold you back. I just learned that recently." She held out her glass to cheers.

Snow Heart

"Yeah, I briefly considered rewriting a better version of my first story, but my fans were "meh" so I moved on. Don't look the old one up, I know you could find it if you looked on Fimfetch. Learnt about that place recently. My newer content is a lot better. I promise!" she realized she was rambling again. "Anywho...tell me is there anything else you'd like to say? To them?" Snow Heart gestured to a crowd that seemed to gather around her. She wasn't famous. She was just a pony trying to tell good stories.

Aurora

"Oh, uh, h-hi!" She rubbed her neck again, laughing awkwardly. "It's nice to be back here myself. I'm looking forward to growing, myself, and meeting new amazing people like I did 9 years ago. More than anything, though... Thanks for remembering me. I didn't expect that, and I can't properly express how much I appreciate it. Thank you."
