The Way of Water Leads to One Beautiful Splash

    Hello everyone,

I just came back from watching Avatar: The Way of Water.

And much like the first one, there's one main word I can describe it as: though I think Countess Coloratura puts it best:

    Deadlines suck

    Hey everyone,

So, due to a lot of Real Life getting in the way, I wanted to let everyone who's been reading along to Star of the Sea know that our chapter publishing is going to get very shaky.

Used to be I'd try to make sure we posted every Friday. But due to some scheduling concerns and overall being incredibly busy, I felt it best to take that deadline off.

Howlite Howler Revision - GO! · 5:34pm Oct 28th, 2020

Hello, all my wonderful readers,

So, I've been thinking about something, and I'd like your feedback:

With Howlite Howler 3 drawing to a close, I found myself looking back on Shiva's journey. And I remembered that Luke was originally based on the Lucario Pokemon from... well, Pokemon. :twilightsheepish:

And considering this is fanfiction, it made me wonder: what if I went back and revised Howlite Howler so that Luke was actually a displaced Lucario?

Here's what I'm thinking: Shiva still gets caught by Beast Breaker. But instead of him just torturing her for the funzies, he either takes her to a unicorn (or is the unicorn himself) who is trying to see if he can form a gateway to other worlds (note; this does take place before Equestria Girls proves this was already done). Luke is there - the result of his first experiment - and the unicorn (Beast Breaker?) begins trying to use him and Shiva as power sources to try and reach their worlds. The magical interface, while painful, gives Shiva her powers, and after Spike stumbles across the experiment and is threatened by Beast Breaker, Shiva finds the strength to break herself out, only getting caught because she goes back for Luke. Luke ends up with the diamond dogs, manages to get himself settled, but still feels guilty for leaving Shiva, and goes back to find her, allowing the story to proceed as normal.

But, what do you guys think? Should I revise it with this edition in mind? As while it's technically making Howlite Howler a Pokemon crossover, Pokemon doesn't really feature beyond Luke's role. But I really feel like this revision not only gives a better explanation to Beast Breaker's role in hurting Shiva, but also gives Shiva and Luke something more to bond over and lead to them having Kodo and Celine (who, yes, would also probably be Riolus before Sombra evolves Kodo early).

Please, let me know what you think, and thanks as always for reading.

I think it could be an interesting concept, but that would break with the already established world of Howlite Howler, if you plan to do a complete rewrite of the story it would be a good idea, but if you don't delve into Luke's world it would be an unnecessary change
personally, I prefer Luke as a Diamond dog and in any case add a Lucario in another installment or as a side story

Mmm, the problem I can think of right now is that with Luke being a Pokemon the connection Shiva has with the Diamond Dogs would feel way too tenuous. Remember that the main reason she threw her lot in with them was thanks to Luke.

Also, tbh, the sequence of events you're proposing feels a bit too contrived to me.

Pretty much this. If you still want to do Luke as a Lucario it would be better to do it in a separate/original story, since I can't really see it adding much to HH.

I see. Thank you both very much for your feedback.

Very true. And I don't suppose having Luke earn the diamond dogs' loyalty off screen would work either, since it raises the question of how he got a bunch of canines he's nothing like to follow him, and why he did so when he'd likely be more interested in finding a way home.

This is what I was really worried about; since Howlite Howler is mostly from Shiva's perspective, I wouldn't be able to delve into Luke's world as much, since her main conflict is with the ponies and not pokemon.

Thank you guys again for your feedback. I'll probably end up shelving this idea, but I would like to make a story where Luke got to be the Lucario I envisioned him as. Well, once Howlite Howler ends, I'll have more time to think on it.

Until then, thanks as always for reading and supporting me.

How was Luna handled and such in the stories there?
And Spike?

So, I'm not a huge fan of this idea (literally just found these fics), getting too spread out on concepts tends to make them harder to enjoy.

But, at the end of the day you write for yourself.
