In recent weeks, I've been getting back into the swing of writing smut, and it's because I've been going about it in a different way than usual. See, what my M.O has been for years at this point when it comes to boinking is 'the checklist'. The checklist is a list of stages for a sex scene I check off as we go. It usually includes oral, a specific act of foreplay, and then penetration, followed by high impact sexual impregnation.
What I've done recently, however, is throw that list out and focus on smaller instances of sex across multiple chapters. For example, in Great Days, I've had a blowjob scene with Rarity, followed by a break, then followed by a mating press/dominance scene with Rainbow in the latest chapter that only includes a single sexual act. This kind of scene is something I've avoided doing up until this point, but since I have engaged in it, I'd like to know if you guys are okay with it becoming the more standard sex scene throughout multi-chapter stories?
Are you fine with getting a blowjob here, some anal here, and a rimjob there rather than the full checklist? I ask because I've found it easier to write the shorter scenes with more frequency rather than the massive ones constantly, similar to sex scenes in things like Corruption of Champions or Trials in Tainted Space?

I believe it depends on the type of story you’re writing.
If you are doing a story with only about 1-3 chapters, or a small group of lovers, then it is probably best to stick with your checklist.
However, if you are writing a story with several chapters that involves many lovers, going for shorter scenes sounds like a better idea. You get to move the story along much faster, and don’t have to worry about running out of fresh material and reusing earlier scenes. It also makes it easier for readers to digest if they are starting from the very beginning.
As an avid fan of CoC, having some chapters feature a few things then just have it all in there is a good change of pace.
Tbh you shouldn't feel obligated to include specific scenes in a chapter just because it's what you've been doing up until now. If shorter, more varied scenes are easier to get through for you, then by all means go ahead.

Whether it's a long sex scene, based on your checklist, or some smaller interactions, like currently, it's all good.

I think you could use the two in some that are one as in the original checklist being a complete sex scene but to give variety do that others of oral and game prior to an overflow of pure lust but being honest are your stories by you can do whatever you want with them
If you find it easier to write like you have been with Great Days then I say go for it
I have no problem with shorter scenes featuring more characters, especially if it fits with the flow of the story like in Great Days.
I do, however, like a bit of 'cooldown' or 'aftermath' after the fact to really revel in what happened and help push it home, yknow?
Honestly? Either way's fine with me. But if doing the shorter chapters more frequently is easier for you, go for it. If you want, save the BIG chapters for special occasions or something.
The difference between porn and erotica is the degree to which the sex has an impact on the reader, the story, and the characters. A sex scene isolated by itself is little more than IKEA instructions giving simple simple titillation, like a crudely drawn penis on a bathroom stall door. Proper erotica has the sex scene mean something beyond what is physically happening. Because the reader cares about the story and the characters involved. And the characters care about each other in a meaningful way, be it positive or negative.
Fanfiction cheats this system by giving the fan reader established an establish story setting with characters and a world they know. Thus, short little sex one-shots are easily consumed, but you can never evolve as a writer until you take these training wheels off of you metaphorical bicycle. A clopfic is a sex story. Erotica is a story that happens to have sex in it.
