Princess Platinum the Filly? · 6:49pm May 23rd, 2020
There's a scene in the Hearth's Warming Play where Platinum rides on Clover's back. The only time we've seen Ponies riding Ponies it's been little fillies on the backs of adults.
Is it possible Platinum was almost a filly when she inherited the Kingdom and this was some sort of later crack about her age?
Perhaps this was compounded by Platinum suffering a leg injury and Clover helping her by placing her on his back, but to the other leaders it looked as if he was carrying around a small child-which she nearly was. Poor Platinum was thrust into her role too soon and history recorded her as an immature brat.
We have to remember that the history of Hearth's Warming was in the end written by Clover, Smartcookie, and Pansy... and while not unbiased sources, Clover doesn't strike to be one that would lie about Platinium's age

Not lie. She was literally almost a filly. As in a young teenager. And I don't recall it being said who wrote it.

Why not? Casting himself as managing an infantilized but grown woman is a power play. It makes him seem more impressive than if he had actually been wrangling a child, and what's more, decreases her scope to gain power as she grows, because her image is already set in stone as ridiculous.

again I doubt Clover would lie about Platinum's age and if Clover said Platinium was a mare, she was a mare
This would actually be a really neat thing to include in a story. You should write it!

But why would Smart Cookie or Pansy lie about Platinum's age? What do they gain, and why would Hurricane, Platinum and Puddinghead let them get away with it after they thawed out?

I should have said this earlier, it's clear that a pony is either a filly/colt/foal or they are a mare/stallion and when in doubt they are almost always counted as the younger, with maybe the exception of Big Mac in the story in 'Where the Apple Lies', but that's clearly the expectation and not the rule

Because they don't care about unicorn court politics? Like, at all?
To the extent they do, they're probably willing to support their friend's ambitions over the person (presumably a political enemy) he's rubbishing.
I don't know all the specifics, but it could be possible for all I know. I think that was mostly just a crack at how stuck up and "proper" she is, so much so that she makes others carry her on their backs. I've seen this gag a lot of times in other cartoons, so that's just the way I took it.
I sau it was power play and supiriority.

That's brilliant.

But in all honesty, they were probably all dead when that play was written at least assuming the Unicorns had les majestee laws.
Quite plausible.
And it should probably also be born in mind that the modern-day play is likely a more recent script based on incomplete historical records.
